hi guys,

well I'm hoping my cc cage is here tomorrow, just wanted to run a few questions past you knowledgable lot.

My cc cage is 4x2 and it has a second floor, i was thinking of using that for the hay loft but since David has had problems with his eye (his eye still not right), I'm worried he will poke it in the hay again as he really burys himself in it, also is it not expensive to have a hayloft and how often does the hay need replacing and cleaning out?

Also how often do you change the fleece bedding iv bought 3 fleeces from primark today and iv got 6 smart price towel. i am hoping they should do me for a week and then obviously wash as i go along

any cc tips would be much grateful

also I'm scared of them falling off the ramp lol. am i being daft? xx

Very exciting that your C & C is nearly here. :)

I change fleece and towels every 2-3 days depending on how well they hold up (and clean poop every day). Maybe best way to start with your hayloft is to put a litter tray up there. I use megazorb and hay, but newspaper and hay would be fine. I change the hay every day because wet hay really smells, so I wouldn't want to be using a whole hayloft's worth every day. You can squash the hay down a bit so your pigs sit on top until David's eye is better. Mine also have a hayrack to make sure there's access to fresh hay.

Hope that's helpful. :)

thanks flips thats what i will do. do you keep all the hay in the hayloft? or do you put some downstairs to.

i was thinking of putting a rack downstairs but it will only make a mess wont it.... cant wait whoppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haha xx

I have a hayrack downstairs but I put a smaller piece of fleece underneath that I can give a shake out everday. I have a litter tray downstairs too, mainly because my girls like their own space so don't always want to share. They do make a bit of a mess with the hay but it mostly shakes/ brushes off when I change the fleece over. You want a good stiff brush ideally. :)
Can't wait to see pics of your boys in their new pad. :(|)

thanks flips, i think ill do two then seeing as the boys have been scrapping haha.

i cant wait get them in there i just hope they dont fight. Going to take pics and put them on defo. Exciting times haha xx
