Hello! I'm from Australia so CC cages aren't really popular here but I love them! I have it all set up but I don't know what to do about linen. Does anyone know a DIY advice thread or website? I'm not much of a sower but I can try!

Also my cage is double storied, how do you guys attach the ramp to the top level? I thought mine was sturdy enough but it keeps falling down.

I'm lurking the threads for cheap ideas for my pigs. They have never had a litter box, is it worth getting one now or will they never use it?

Any other ideas or hints would be appreciated.

By linen do you mean fleece? I have cage liners that have wadding and a waterproof layer in between 2 sheets of fleece and because they're quite heavy they stay down by themselves.
I know some people with ramps drill 2 holes into the top and then cable tie to the top grids.

Dont know if this helps :)

Hi,

When I had a 2 level cage I had hooks on the top of the ramp (like you get with hooks and eyes for net curtain wire) - I closed the hooks (with pliers) as much as possible and hooked them over a grid edge (I used a mesh grid for a tighter hold). It stayed in place but if you had any doubt you could drill a couple of holes in the ramp (if its wooden) and attach cable ties so there would be no chance of it falling.

I line my cage with fleece on top of incontinence pads. I can buy the pads with 2 or 3 to fit the cage length and I buy fleece to use on top. Sometimes I sew the fleece but sometimes I just fold it and use it as it is. I know some people sew it and make a lining which goes up and over the correx edges of the c&c cage. I dont do this but just lay it down. 2 of my pigs do like to burrow under it though - I guess if I sewed it and made it one piece that would stop them doing that (but I dont mind them burrowing)

2 of my pigs use a litter box (for pee but not poop) but the others dont (separate cage) - you could try one if you can get one easily and cheaply or not if you cant.

Hope this helps - anyone else got any ideas to help here ?

xx

I'm not quite sure what fleece is but I use a thin linen blanket (which isn't really a blanket I don't think) is that the same thing?

This is my current set up

Any advice on how to make it better would be lovely. I'm not really fussed on getting them hay since they are in their outside run during the day which is full of it but if anyone thinks I should have one here let me know :).

I think ill have to get some more plastic stuff for the second story (I underestimated how much I needed) can that be used to make a bridge or is that too flimsy?

Thanks for your advice guys! This forum rules!

Yea that's fleece. I guess it's just a name difference thing.
When you said you weren't fussed on getting them hay, did you mean they don't have it in the cage? As they should have access to hay 24/7

Oh ok Ill get a rack for them then :)

I mean that they are outside all day which is filled with hay. They only come in when it starts to get dark.

Unfortunately piggies are demanding little things! Hay helps them to keep they're teeth short and also makes up 80% of their digestive needs. It's essential that they have it at all times of day :)

Will do! I'm getting a baby girl in a couple of weeks so I have to think of some new ideas for a cage (and have room to actually move in my tiny unit!)

I don't know if this helps anyone since I'm not from the UK but I went to a couple of linen stores today to buy fleece and it was quite expensive at 10-12 a meter but I went down to my local Kmart and bought a throw blanket which is just like a piece of fleece for $6 :)

Also I have now converted the top level to a hay room so they always have access to it! Thanks for the advice! :)
