I have a couple of flowers/plants on the fireplace but I don't know what they are called. Anyway, I was watching TV whilst they were in their run and I didn't notice them break out and start eating the plants until my Dad came in and pointed it out.
I looked on google and it says plants and flowers are poisonous to guineas. Do you think they will be OK? They had eaten about half a leaf each before I "rescued" them. :(

It depends on the plant - often half a leaf is too little to do serious damage.

You can get some charcoal from the pharmacy and give that to the piggies to help absorb any poison in the guts.

I know some plants can be poisonous to piggies. I would keep an eye on them for now and if you notice any changes in them take them to the vets. Half a leaf isn't much though....depending on the size of the leaf rolleyes

Clever great escape piggies....hope they are ok :)

Naughty piggies! :(|) Maybe you can post a photo of the plant on here? Are they still acting the way they normally are?

This is the plant. You can see on the bottom leaf where it has been nibbled, and I think they have eaten some petals that had fallen off as well. :0

Are Begonias poisonous to guineas?

i'm afraid to say that yes that is begonia and yes they are poisonous to piggies although i don't no how much is a dangerous amount to eat, what i do know is that it will make their mouths feel like they are burning and may cause difficulty in swallowing so look for drooling, however if i am wrong and it is indeed cyclamen as both plants do look very similar it will make them vomit but again i don't know what is a dangerous amount to be consume. Definately go with the charcoal option and if your still worried call your vet.

Hope those naughty piggies will be ok

It has been a while since they had that sneaky nibble and they certainly seem fine. It hasn't put them off their food, they were wheeking like crazy and dug right in.

Is it safe to assume they will be OK and they ate less than I thought?

Stop worrying - that little bit won't do them harm!
