I have bought a cat scratching board/post to use for a cage ramp in my cage. But I am scared my piggies will get splinters/bits of the material stuck in their feet. I went into P@H the other day and touched a cat scratching post and got a splinter in my finger; which I managed to get out about 2 days later :{

Does anyone have these for ramps in their cage?

I have one for mine and have never had a problem have had it for about 6 months now !

Hi PJ

I know lots of people have used these for ramps, usually the rope variety. If you get splinters so would the pigs' feet, so do check each type out. Many also use carpet tiles cut to fit and cable tied in place.

I have decided not to use my cat scratching board. I have been looking at it and I think it will hurt my piggies footies. I was examining it and had a couple of spikes then myself. Nevermind.

OH said he would make me one - he is a Carpenter :))

Yaay, I think my OH is going to make the ramp today! So excited. They can eventually use their hay loft then. I am eager to see how they react as they have never been up a ramp before - not that I know of anyway (they were young when I got them)

A bit of a late reply but I bought a ramp for my future c & c cage

I can't tell what the backing material is but its very strong and looks as if it'd be easy to put holes in (for cable tying to the grids). It wasn't catnip infused either like some you find but it did have a little sealed bag of catnip in the packing.
My only grievance for using zooplus was that they put the board in a box that was ridiculously oversized and with lots of packing - not good for the carbon footprint and all that.

That is the one that I bought I won't use as it has sharp pieces sticking out - not good for piggies footies and yes I agree, the box it came in was mahoosive!

I have pics of the ramp my OH made me last night :(|)

I will post them on this thread later at home - I am in work at the mo and it won't let me on Photobucket.

This is the ramp my OH made :) He also fitted it with the red carpet (an old mat cut to size) to make it easier for Floss and Jewel to use :) and he also put a side on to prevent them falling off.

In this pic you will also see that I have put lettuce on it to encourage them to start using it.

They whizz up and down it now - it didnt take long :))
