Since Autumn I've had a 2x6 c and c cage for my four girls, however I keep them in an outdoor weather proof shed (we call it the summer house).

This has worked over winter as we keep the doors shut however to stop from overheating last summer, one side is covered in French doors that we fold out.

BUT we own two cats and are garden backs onto woods. We don't get many foxes because of the cats but very occasionally see them passing.

Sooooo..... How to keep them safe? I was thinking of buying a 200x60cm table to keep the off the ground: LINNMON / ADILS Table, white - 200x60 cm - IKEA and adding a base and lid with cable ties but
a) is this big enough for four?
b) will this keep them safe with door open in afternoon?

To be honest, this is why I changed my set up. I used to keep my Guinea Pigs in a C&C cage on a table in a shed. In my opinon, you can make a C&C cat proof - but not fox proof .

I agree with PiggieOwner. To be honest, I think a fox can potentially get into anything if it was desperate enough and wanted to.
As for cats I think most are more curious than anything, so cat proofing it wouldn't be too hard.
As for how you do it, I can't be of much help, although foxes don't tend to come around during the day, its very rare if they do. Would you be leaving them in the shed with the doors open and going out/to work?

Size wise I think that would be fine for 4, how about, to make it a little more secure is build a wooden frame, then attach the c&c panels to the frame with decent staples and maybe wrap cable ties about the panel and frame too for extra secuirty and obviously make a lid as well in the same method. That the only way I can think of really making panels extra secure.

Unfortunately if a fox did want to get in they would give a really good do at anything, but panels are very thick metal and the wood would help make corners stronger. Although I suspect it would be unlikely, piggies don't seem to be the most popular for predators.

Maybe you could look at making an additional mesh door as an extra layer of protection ? So that the door can be left.
