Hello, I have two shallow trays filled with hay were my girls go to the toilet but they keep getting hay all over, can they get in and out of a cat litter tray?
That have a hay rack to eat hay but they don't really eat out of it so I give them a bowl of hay ! x

You can try but I think that may be too deep. What does it matter if hay goes all over their cage? They like to nibble all over their cage and it is not mess to them.

Both of my boys have no problems getting in and out of a cat litter tray. I fill it full of hay and put it under their hay rack x

I don't mind the mess but the hay with wee on goes on the fleece and I hate to think they would eat it x

Oh that is fine! If they ate some hay with wee on it it would do no harm at all.

My boys all have a cat litter tray for hay and they manage to hop in no problem, in fact they love to snuggle & sleep in it as well as wee & poo too! rolleyes

Mine are from Wilkinson, the small size and cost about £1.30 each. Although they also have a big pile of hay in the main part of their home I put the trays in the upper tier where their food is and it's just easier to tip out the dirty hay and clean the tray rather than the wee going all over the floor as well. The piggies also have great fun nudging the tray all over the place! :))

Will have a look in wilkinsons and try them out. My baby dolly was pop Corning in the tray when I cleaned it for about 10 mins she then sat eating x

i have a fairly deep cat litter tray and my two have no problems hopping in and out, one of them loves doing a nose dive into the hay :)) as for the hay being dragged everywhere they get annoyed when i sweep it up and fling hay everywhere as soon as my back is turned rolleyes

I got a lovely lilac litter tray from wilkinsons that I use when they have readygrass, hay cookies or excel cubes. I think that pigs like the colour.

I have a couple of litter trays - one under the hay rack and another in the bed section of the house. I find it much easier to keep the hutch clean as most of the wee etc goes in the tray so I just need to change them every 1-2 days and the rest of the hutch is ok for a once a week deep clean

I've only just seen this! You could try one of those cat litter trays that has a lower part on the lip on one side so its easier for them to get in and out of or a kitten litter tray, they're a bit lower than normal cat litter trays. Although that said, my boys have no problems with theirs so yours might be alright.
