Hi had my boar castrated 2 weeks ago, he's not moved much not pooping or wee properly, so I've been back and forth to the vets, today they keep him in to open him up again and they found out he's had a reaction to the sutures red and inflamed inside, he's tried to remove the bad tissue but was stuck to bladder so had to cut into his bladder so not looking great, and one had problems like this and do you think he will survive, really wish I hadn't done it, I've lost 3 pigs this year already, feeling so down and depressed.😭

So sad to hear what happened to your piggie.
There's one thing I don't understand in here. Why did they touch the bladder?
I mean, the testicles are outside the abdomen and that intervention usually don't need any stitches.
Were they inside? Did they tell you something else?
I hope everything went well.

I am so sorry you are going through this.
Please be kind to yourself - you have not done anything wrong and are clearly a very devoted owner.
I am crossing my fingers that your boy pulls though.

BIG HUGS

I am so sorry that your boy is having such a bad reaction, which is one of the more uncommon complications and not something you can brace for. You haven't done wrong; it is just one of these things. But it is always even harder when it comes on the back of other losses and you start doubting yourself.

I have been there myself. :(

Fingers very firmly crossed for your gorgeous boy!

I'm so sorry 😭 what a shock it must have been for you, of course neutering has its risks but its such a common surgery!
At least your piggies are reunited now over the Rainbow Bridge 🌈❤️

Unfortunately he has passed away his afternoon, feeling so 😭

BIG HUGS

Take your time to grieve. Accept that your normal feelings of guilt and failure are going to be stronger because of the circumstances and NOT because you have failed in any respect or because you are a bad owner. With more piggies, deaths and bad stuff is much more likely to happen in big lumps but it is in the long term balanced out by good times. Every new loss will break open barely scabbed over wounds in your heart and bring it all up again. Dealing with a failed operation is especially tough to come to terms with.

Be sad and cry it out of your system but please do not beat yourself up over what is not in your control. We always have to make our decisions without a sneak peak at the outcome. Things are always obvious from hindsight; but we are unfortunately not equipped with foresight. Always remember that you have made your decision to give him the happiest of boar lives and that it was not your fault that it hasn't come off but simply cosmic bad luck (which is what I call the things that happen out of our control and that we cannot prevent). :(

If you really struggle, please contact the free Blue Cross pet bereavement charity services. They offer several platforms from email to phone lines and online groups. All forum members who have made use of them and who have given feedback have come back to us with a positive experience and have said that it has really helped them. Talking about it with somebody who understands is the best thing you can do for yourself.
