cartrophen injections for cystitis

I am often on here asking for help with Graham my lovely guinea pig. He has suffered on & off for most of his life (he is nearly 4) with squeaking in pain & hunching up when weeing & pooing. He has had 2 rays is on low calcium water, low calcium diet, tramadol, metacam dog strength, gabapentin, oxbox urinary biscuits, Marriages cold pressed dried food but I do not give him much, tried barley water homemade stuff but will not touch it, eats lots of hay, drinks plenty, tried cystitis human sachets, has been on cystease most of his life one a day sprinkled on food.... my vet has agreed to try cartrophen injections but says they cannot be used if he is on metacam (meloxidyl dog strength)... does anyone know if this is correct? Thank you xx

I had read similar prior to trying them, however I currently have 2 receiving cartrophen injections and they both are on a high dose of dog metacam twice a day and have not had to come off it at any point.

My piggy had cartrophen injections plus 1ml dog metacam twice a day, it really helped her good luck with your piggy x

Yes she said it was fine nugget was able to wean her dose down to 0.6ml twice daily eventually. She had an extra dose of cartrophen several months after the initial set of 4, and then her ic was well managed until she passed of an unrelated issue x
