Anyone know of a good top loading carry box that will hold 2 pigs.

It would be used whilst I quickly cleaned cages and for trips to the vets.

There is this one which can be used for rabbits, piggies, cats and dog (not sure about the dog thing though!) ... 45 X 33 X 33 cm dimensions ...

I've been looking for exactly the same thing. I'm using a cardboard box at the moment but its getting to the point where I need a new one. Ive seen one in the p@h near me but its way too small for my pigs. Really you'd need something low in heigh and wide enough for piggys. That one you've mentioned doesnt seem too bad though! x

oh might be the one i was thinking of getting i have only seen it on the net and not been in and seen it . i have borrowed my mums cat carrier but not top loader so is a bit awkward to get them out:(

that one is 17.90 on zoo plus, it looks great. They do one at my p@h which is not on website and bigger than the normal one they stock it would be big enough, I believe it is about 15.00

yeh I thought I'd seen a bigger one when I was in there (P@H) but couldn't find it on the website.

the box I've pictured is going brand new on eBay with a few different sellers for around 10 - 12 quid including P&P.

oh I'm currently using a combination of a 1 piggy plastic carry box (which isn't really big enough for my boar lol) and a selection of increasingly smelly / soggy cardboard boxes haha.

of course ;) I can be a very sneaky ebay bidder when I need to be :))

I have got a plastic cat carrier box I use for transporting Leo bunny if needed and have used it for putting Monty guinea in whilst cleaning but at the mo he goes in the spare hutch whilst I'm cleaning. Its top opening which is good, do have a smaller carry box in case i need to take a guinea to vets but Its really a bit small now so must get new one soon.

juts to let you know they still had the big carriers at my pets @ home yesterday they are about £14!

cheers, I haven't got round to ordering / bidding for one yet and I'm due a trip to P@H any time so may hang on until I get there. x

I use the pet shuttle one which is ideal for 2 piggies but not for anything bigger. Check with your local rescue they may be able to help you.

Hi was wondering if you ended up getting the one off ebay in the end? I now need a new one as the two I have are way too small took tiger and george to the vets the other day and they really played up climbing up my sleeve and round back of my jumper! they have never done it before so I have put it down to being put in carriers which are too small. ( i didn't realise til was going out the door and had to put them in & was too late by then).

I have four carriers for my lot, although I do need another one since I'm up to 10 piggies now, I aim for one carrier between two pigs. The ones I use are standard plastic cat travel carriers. You can get small animal ones made for guinea pigs, but I much prefer the cat carriers when you have multiple piggies. The biggest one I have is a pink and white Voyager 300, big enough for three of my biggest (3lb+) pigs.

And it is much better than the "carrier" I saw at the vets some years ago. Someone had a brought in a baby guinea pig in just a pigloo!

I'm not sure about the front opening. I want ideally one that can house two guineas with a top opening (incase they try to run off!) Hoping that then when I finally get my two bonded with a friend each they can travel in pairs to the vets. I have seen a few on bay which may do but not sure of dimentions does 19" by 12" sound big enough for two for a short journey?

I'm going to have a look in Wilsons or whatever Its called now! Sat see what they have, then will see whats online/ebay.

I will get the new pair of boys a cat sized carrier with top opening like the one my Bunny uses.

my mum has give me her cat carrier ideal size wise but a right pain trying to get hand right down back to get them out need a top opener

About 7 or 8 years ago, I got a "Sherpa Bag" to transport my piggies. It looks like a sports bag, is soft fabric with mesh sides to let air in and I just put newspapers and a vet bed in the bottom. I found my then pigs Ernie and Warren were much, much happier when travelling by car than before in the plastic carrier. I could also sneak them into shops and restaurants without anyone really noticing. It also strapped securely into the back seat seatbelt. It was similar to this one http://www.sherpapet.com/page.asp?id=43&name=Delta Deluxe Pet Carrier

It started looking pretty rough about a year ago (but had lasted very well and was worth every penny) but when I went to get another, I couldn't find one for sale in the UK, so shopped around a bit. Gethin and Celyn now travel in this bag, which can be worn as a rucksack, but I tend to just carry it by the top handle. The seatbelt strap is even more secure on this one and it's actually quite easy to clean and folds flat. Obviously they don't poke their heads out of the top like the dog is doing :-) http://www.canineconcepts.co.uk/item--Dog-Carrier-Rucksack--rucksack---dogs

There seem to be lots and lots of soft pet carriers - not all suitable for piggies, but the ones that close completely and have mesh at least at both ends seem perfect. I don't think I'd ever consider getting a hard sided carrier again. They are more awkward to carry, hard to secure in the car and I always worried about the piggies bumping against the hard sides if I had to brake suddenly.

Just wanted to say that although I have bought some bigger boxes of ebay big enough for 2. I have found such a bargain today for the ones that are same size as pets @ home. I bought one today incase my new big ones didn't get here in time. the ones that are in p@h for about £11 are £4.99 at the range (possibly a different make) but certainly big enough for one adult male or possibly two piggies if they get on well!

I must go to the Range sometime soon but not today as traffic will be awful with the safari park - need another one for Melvin and Parsnip now for their trip to pet boarding in July.
