From posts here it’s evident that a lot of piggies love their carrot cottages. Does anyone know what the roofs are made of? I wonder if there is a high sugar content and whether you should reduce the amount of high sugar veg if your piggies are chomping in the roofs . Is it a dyed product or is it carrot? I’m tempted to buy a couple for my boys so any advise/comments would be appreciated

The roof is dried carrot, the sides are parchment board and hay. Yes they are going to be higher in sugar, but they generally don’t sit and eat an entire cottage in one sitting. I don’t change my piggies diet when they have a carrot cottage but equally my piggies don’t get given high sugar veggies anyway

Yes my lot love carrot cottages and also the hay cubes! I always think the small amount of carrot on the roof takes so much exercise and effort to eat that it probably doesnt count as carrot calories, but you could skip root veg and fruit treats while a carrot cottage demolishion is in progress if you are worried about that :)
