Hello!

I’ve been thinking a lot about lockdown ending here in the UK and getting excited about visiting family as soon as safely possible. Usually my partner works when I go and visit so the pigs stay at home with him, however it’s likely we’ll both be visiting our families at the same time after lockdown.

This means that for the first time, we’ll be getting the train (1 change, approx 1hr45) with 2 pigs! We’ve traveled with 1 of them before but that was in a car - he didn’t seem fussed at all though and ate/slept all the way.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for suitable carriers. We’d need 2 because our boys don’t get along and currently socialise in separate cages and would need to travel in different spaces. Although I’ve found lots suitable for 2 pigs, I ideally wanted something a little smaller so each pig doesn’t feel too exposed. They’re both also pretty large pigs, 930g and 1350g respectively.

Any carrier advice/recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I live in the UK and would also love to hear any train tips and tricks if anyone’s got any!

Thanks! 😊

I've travelled with my boys on the train a couple of times in a hard case cat carrier (two piggies together). I would suggest a similar carrier for taking them separate just fill with hay or blankets and cover with a blanket or sheet to stop them feeling exposed. Once you're on the train make sure they have access to a water bottle but it's best to take this out when walking about or everything just gets wet. Also give them lots of their favourite veggies although they may not eat especially if it's noisy (book seats in the quiet carriage if you can).
