Just want to ask a few questions about carpet on ramps.

Can it be washed ?
Does it need to be washed?
Would it go in the washing machine ?
Should i have a few pieces to swap around like fleece ?
How does it attach ?
etc.

any other info would be great :) !

I'm sorry, ive never tried carpet on beds. But, I have stuck sand paper to my piggie ramps. Works as well. Hopefully somone will be able to come along and help.

I have a towel on mine, that hooks over the hooks that secure it to the cage. :) This gets washed like fleece.

OMG thats brilliant and it will keep they claws short. I am so doing this! xx>>> Thanx!

Is sand paper not a bit rough on their feet? Their pads are very soft.

I use carpet on my ramp. Stuck down with duct tape. I don't bother washing it though. I have spare carpet in the garage as the bunnies have it on the floor in their shed as well so I just cut a new piece if it gets soiled and throw the dirty piece away.

Sand paper is a no no if your pigs use the ramp a lot.

I don't have guinea pigs but have budgies and their feet are very soft underneath. Both these animals can get sores and bumblefoot, and in serious cases can die from bleeding etc

The best thing to do would be just to regularly trim their feet every month and put a carpet or fleece on the ramp. Sandpaper is not comfortable, it does hurt.

I have carpet tile on my ramps which is cable tied on, I don't take it off for washing just usually give it a scrub with a sponge when it gets dirty. Mine don't sit on the ramps really so they stay pretty clean

I did ponder that when I saw it.. but figured (at the time) *** mentioned it was wrong so thought it would be ok.. My lot have no problem going up and down their ramp.. I just thought it would be a nifty way to help their claws.. :)) I think I shall just keep to their normal ramp anyway.. I just use a towel over their ramp (stapled down) and that works.. if it get really grubby I just rip it off (throw it away) and staple a new one on, but it doesn't much as they don't pee on it..lol
