Hi,

We’ve just had to put one of our guinea pigs down due to a bad illness and as heartbreaking as it is we want to make sure the other now single pig is going to be okay by himself. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep the single pig happy and okay? We just don’t want to lose both of our piggies even if it means we have to get him a friend just after losing Rupert. Anything is appreciated. Rupert was only 2 😢

Thanks

Brad

You can take your guinea pig to a rescue and set up a date to see which one it gets along with then donate and rescue that pig. I havnt had to do this before, but plenty of people on here have. Sorry for your loss

Hi there! Sorry for your loss, I understand what you are going thorugh. We’ve recently lost our older piggie Nocciolaand we are worrying about the lil sister left behind too. There is a very usefull guide here in the forum called “Looking after a bereaved guinea pig”. Lots of quality time and attention seem to work too with our Lenticchia. Definetly consider the idea of talking to a rescue for advice too!

Thank you, yes have since found that post which we’ve read over so will follow that. Thank you for posting though it’s nice to know piggies can recover after losing someone close 😊
