ok so what are the differences between Carefresh and Megazorb?

I currently use Carefresh but it is alot more expensive than Megazorb.

I can get Megazorb for £6.50 for an 85 litre bag locally compared to between £10 and £13 (not including postage) for 60 litres of Carefesh.

I know there are review threads on both these beddings but as a direct comparison could guys answer the following questions....

1........ do they look exactly the same? on google images they appear to in some images but not in others.
2........ are they as absorbent as each other?
3........ do you tend to use the same number of litres of each to fill the same sized cage?
4........ how do they compare for dust?
5........ how do they compare for smell after a day or two in the cage?
6........ how many days do each one last before a complete clean out?

i just wonder why there is such a big difference in price when they look and are described as being the same.

I've used both but now just use Megazorb. I only used Carefresh until I discovered Megazorb.

1. Yes, they both look quite similar and I think they're made with the same stuff.
2. Yes, I would say that are both as absorbent as each other.
3. I would probably say that I use more Megazorb because it's not as expensive so I can afford to be more liberal with it.
4. I don't either one dusty at all but I know other members have different views on this.
5. Mine are indoors so I usually clean them out every 3 days (with spot checks in between) - sometimes they can be a little smelly by then but it all depends on how much they've been drinking and what vegetables I've been given them.
6. I do a complete clean out every 3 days.

I prefer Megazorb because to me it's just the same as Carefresh but you get loads loads more for your money. I only have 2 girls but a bag of Megazorb will last me about 4 months. Don't know why there is such a price difference.

I tend to agree with Angeladeeha.

1. Yes, they both look quite similar and I think they're made with the same stuff. Megazborb bits are a little smaller than carefresh and if anything "softer".
2. Yes, I would say that are both as absorbent as each other. Agree
3. I would probably say that I use more Megazorb because it's not as expensive so I can afford to be more liberal with it. Agree, I probably also use more Megazorb because it spreads more evenly than Carefresh and I always add a bit more so it's nice and soft for the pigs feet!
4. I don't either one dusty at all but I know other members have different views on this. If anything I would say Megazorb is more dusty, I don't always notice it when I'm handling it, just notice the layer of dust on everything around, which I haven't noticed so much with Carefresh
5. I usually clean them out every 3 days (with spot checks in between) - sometimes they can be a little smelly by then but it all depends on how much they've been drinking and what vegetables I've been given them. Same here, complete change every 3 days - depends how many pigs you've got in one cage I guess.

Megazorb is so much more cost effective than Carefresh, I also use it to line visiting buns litter trays as its fab for "clumping" and also in our hammy's cage.

Hope that helps.

thanks both so much.... GREAT responses there.

Anyone else?

Well Ive used Megazorb for 2 cage changes now and am not liking it at all. It is SOOO messy, smells quicker that Carefresh and is harder to clean that Carefresh. The pigs chuck it all over my living room when they popcorn and their dry food get full of it. It is really hard to clean of fleece bedding and big cabbage/lettuce/spinach leaves get burried in it too easily.

The ONLY benefit with it in my personal opinion is the price.

Despite it being alot cheaper, in fact it works out to nearly half the price of Carefresh, I am going back to Carefresh as soon as these 2 bags are used up.

I prefer megazorb for much more than cost. firstly it is smaller pieces therefore i think it is softer for their feet and more comfy to lie on. I think megazorb seems to go further too! I am very liberal with it and one bag can do me two nero 4 sized cages plus a small upstairs area for about 3/4 weeks! I only change once a week but do spot clean and replace some bedding each time!

one 85 litre of megazorb does 2 3X2 C&Cs 2full cage changes plus the extra bit for spot cleaning.

too me, when I am leaning in the cage to clean, the carefresh is alot softer than megazorb.

and i just can't get over how much megazorb gets flung out of the cage and fills up their food bowls.

yes you definately get a ton in their food bowls but they don't seem to mind and the dishes get cleaned daily!
