Cardboard Query

Hi

I have spent a fortune on the pigs over the last week or so - don't really want to spend any more. However I feel their cage is still quite bare. I plan to buy soft cosies/beds at some point, but it will have to wait until pay day now!

Is it safe for them to have empty cereal boxes to nibble on/hide in? I would hope the ink is non-toxic since they contain food - but not sure?

Same question for shoe boxes? I thought about cutting a doorway in so they can use that as a temporary hidey (don't think it would last long as they're chewing through a wooden hut at the mo!).

Any thoughts? Has anyone noticed bad side effects from piggies chewing coloured cardboard?

Mine get so much fun out of cardboard and they snack on the edges I use the plainest cardboard I can find. Amazon boxes are the best....and apparently the tastiest lol

You may find our toy ideas thread inspirational! Hay filled brown paper bags (handles always cut through) or stuffed kitchen paper rolls are also a great hit. You can get those cheaply from ebay if you haven't got any local shops. Brown or plain paper or cardboard is best.

As Wiebke has said above, piggies love paper bags! I got a huge one last night from the chippy and they have spent all night in it haha
