Well he rumble strutted up to Jingle who told him off (he whizzed away and she carried on eating). He approached Mistletoe who is sniffing him. He is rumbling away. He got a bit close to Jingle who told him off again. She whizzes towards him and he flees!

J is eating so is M. C is rumbling away...

They are all in a section of the c and c cage. Cleaned with water and vinegar. They are in what was Caramels bit of the cage.

All munching now.
C sniffing Js bum. J moved away, still eating! C follows her slowly. She goes into the pile of hay. Here comes M. All separate eating.

C rumbling. J in the hay. M follows her. C suddenly spooked and hid in the other pile of hay. Silence.

Sounds pretty normal to me...

Good! I have now made one long massive hay mountain on top of cleaned litter trays. J and M are eating away merrily and C is hiding.

J has gone into the hay mountain where C is hiding ... M is going in too from the other direction. C is rumbling. M goes right in. More rumbles.

This is fascinating.

As long as Caramel is not getting to bolshy at some point and is pushing it further than the sows want, things should hopfully go well. It is often the dominance phase, and not the acceptance phase that is crucial from cross gender bonding. More dominant sows not in season will not be interested in a boar and tend to keep him at bay. Submissive will allow him to mount them at the beginning as a sign of acceptance even if they are not in season.

C rumbling M chirruping both J and M sloooowing creeping closer to C (who is invisible). All vanished into the hay now!

Chirrups and eating noises.

They have been living close together for six weeks and have shared big piles of grass through the grids so hopefully they are already quite well acquainted.

Jingle has emerged from the hay. Mistletoe is close by. Caramel still well out of sight.

Oh this is brilliant! Caramel has gone rumbling over to Mistletoe who chirruped loudly. Jingle came over but has gone again. C and M are near to each other eating. Caramel just came over to Mistletoe and put his chin on her, rumbling. She seemed ok. Just moved gently away.

C and M keep chirruping to each other. Jingle is over the other side of the cage eating.

Jingle has gone over to Caramel but no actual contact. Mistletoe is eating near by. All separate now. Eating. C is chirruping away. Jingle has approached him and he is rumbling. Lots of rumbling and squeaky chirrups now. Mistletoe has gone into the hay with them ... and shes out. Oh its Caramel who is out.

All eating cucumber now.

It is amazing. They are all silently sitting in the hay on their plastic tray (a shoe rack from argos like a low sided grow tray).

It has been over an hour now. No teeth chattering, no loud submissive squeaks and no mounting by anyone. Caramel is a particularly cheerful and gentle boar. He popcorns loads and is always by the bars chatting to the sows. Well, no bars now!

I will be taking the dogs out later and will probably leave them in the bonding section of the c and c cage overnight. They have a 4 x 2 area and will eventually have the full 8 x 2. They are lovely. My little fluffers.

Sounds like it's going very well!

Just went to say goodnight to them. They were making shirty sounds kind of slightly high pitched fast chirrups.

I gave them even more hay and a load of grass. Que loads of happy munching noises. Caramel hid in the hay!

Took a couple of pics. Bit dark. Caramel is in the hay tunnel (you can just see a small entrance hole) by the blue litter tray

Well I have opened up the cage and put down another hay area at the opposite end to where they are now. There is a fleece section in the middle with 3 hides each with two exits.

They are all still crammed into the hay in the bonding area.

Jingle emerged from the hay pile and has had a good look round the rest of the cage. Caramel has followed. Lots of rumbling and bum wiggling but a small squeek from Jingle and he has calmed down. Oh he just popcorned and has gone into the other hay area. Jingle is under her ikea bed. Mistle still invisible. Her breathing is a teeny bit noisy.

C has rumbled and bum wiggled passed Jingle, approached her. She whizzed at him and he is in the new hay area eating and grooming (awww).

Jingle is laying down under her ikea bed with her cheek against the fleece. Oh God how sweet she is.

My Oscar who was also bonded recently was also settled in the hay area with his ladies. The hay makes such a mess everywhere but it's worth it for happy pigs! Glad all is going so well!

Caramel is so brave. He is munching away in the new hay area out in the open. Jingle is under her bed and dear little Mistletoe is hiding in the bonding hay area.

Here are some pics. Mistletoe and Cufflinks get on just fine when he isnt rumbling away wiggling his bottom!

They will sit quite close to each other when there is food around

Jingle is still leader of the pack

It is so great having the whole cage in use again. Nothing sectioned off. 8 x 2 for them to run about in.

It was so sweet when Jingle first realised that the whole cage was opened up again. She had a good look round then lay under her ikea bed and then ... Lay with her cheek against the blue mat x

I had wanted an ikea bed or two for soooo long. Got to assemble Caramel's one next and put it in for him.

Cleaned out the bonding hay area today. All new hay on a tray. Caramel investigated and made happy noises. Jingle went in, causing lots of rumbling and swaying from Caramel. Then Mistletoe crept closer. Rumble wiggle rumble wiggle. Cue Mistletoe hurrying back to the furthest ikea bed, squeaking indignantly!

Caramel and Jingle are munching away in the hay pile. Oh C has shot out and is tooth chattering, well his mouth is moving! Lots of cross noises from Jingle and Caramel. Just munching noises again now. M. is well out of the way under the bed.

Not seen any humping at all. One of them will come into season soon! Caramel is very good and will leave them alone when they make it clear to him that they are NOT keen.

Caramel approached Mistletoe with more rumbles and swaying. She sprayed out a long jet of wee! He didn't push his luck.

Mistletoe is now grazing in the bonding hay area (just a shallow tray of hay and some vet bed). Jingle is under the new (third) ikea bed which is very close to the bonding area and is reaching out and sharing hay from the shallow tray.

Caramel is up the other end in the opposite hay tray. Being spayed by Mistletoe and kicked by Jingle has clearly got through to him. He still popcorns though. So did Mistletoe just now.

They all seem so contented. Oh God Jingle has just laid under the middle ikea bed with her cheek against the vet bed. Awwwwww Squistles has laid under the bed next to her in a little fluffy blonde and white pancake.

It's so lovely when bonding goes so well! We then wonder Why we were so stressed about doing it! My Oscar sniffed Lulus bottom and got the same treatment - a face full of pee! He keeps well out of the way now if either wives give a warning!

Jingle and Caramel are in the same hay tray munching away together. Mistletoe is under the furthest ikea bed chillin'. They are all getting along so well. I love my fluffy trio.

Still got a hankering for a smooth white (or mainly white) sow though. Perhaps one day ...

Oh my word. Mistletoe has just laid down fully with her chin on the blue mat x

Top pic Cherry and Rosie on the left. Mistletoe back right and Cufflinks front right (used to be called Caramel). Last pic shows Jingle in her fave place, chillin'.
