As above - have been to B & M and bought new fleece for the piggies - I know you don't put softener in ,but do you put washing powder in ? or just wash it in water? and do you just do it once or twice!
You can hand wash or use a washing machine. So, this site is brilliant for fleece advice. Simply use detergent with warm water and then rinse and dry, do this several times until it wicksI did a wash, rinse and dry then tested for wicking when I got mine
Aldi non bio is also good.. I used Fairy non bio for years but it took ages to wick ( about 9 washes ) used Aldi and it was done ! Also not had any problems with the kids skin either so win win !
The fleece needs to be washed at 60 to kill of the bacteria and any possible fungal spores etc. If you wash it several times at 60 degrees before cutting to size that's the best idea as it usually shrinks with the first few washes but then stabilises and doesn't shrink any more.
I didn't cut my fleece...it was the biggest that I could find without buying it from a roll.
Shrinking fleece...like wool does when washed due to the acid fixing agents used in the dyes. After all, you generally don't see shrinking sheep when it rains!
