Can't recognise the noise... Good or bad?

Pecan just came back into the shed and she started making a humming sound... It wasn't motor boating because the sound was long and soft, not short and harsh.

She continued to make the noise until she found Maple and they started eating.

Any ideas? When she was making the noise her body was relaxed and long, and you could see the sounds moving through her body.

Sounds like she was perfectly happy - that sound is called purring. You will find that body language is the other part of interpreting sounds; it always needs to be taken into account, as well as the situational context.
