Hi at the moment I'm using wood shavings but there messing and bad for my skin, I've seen a lot of people are using fleece for the piggies but what does everyone think about vet bed? I know it's vet recommend and it also good at absorbing mess, but I'd really like some opinions on what's bed for my piggy and me :) thank you in advance

I'm not a fan of vet bed personally as its a lot of work to keep it clean and tidy buttttt it does keep them lovely and dry and its well used by members on here :-) I use another form of washable bedding called suedecloth but thats a specialist fabric used in cloth nappies and you need to make liners yourself with that.

@piggyfan is a big lover of the stuff :D

I use fleece. Www.Hammockyhammocks.co.uk make a complete piggy bedding, 2 fleece and a wash bag for 55.00. Firstly expensive but well made and hokd a bamboo antibacterial core which wicks away the pee and keeps the pigs dry. You can buy 2x4 size single at 20 each. We swear by them. Had some over 2 years and still going strong easy to clean, wash and they dry quickly the more you wash the more absorbant they get! Long term you save soooo much money! They make to measure too! Www.candEcosies.co.uk also make fleeces that I recommend :)

I am a huge vet bed fan. I really think it is the best bedding for guinea pigs. It is hypoallergenic which is so important for their skin and respiratory system. As it is specially made to wick away water it stays nice and try. I use towels under mine and wash it all every three days.

I've recently changed from wood shavings to vetbed and I love it! There's no wood shavings mess walked through the house! The guinea pigs look so comfy on it and it's nice and dry. I'm still working out what to wash or change when, but at the min I use newspaper under and change it every other day, wash the vetbed once a week.

Aww good I'm glad someone's got good stuff to say about vet bed I was thinking it looks comfy too aha :)

I've finally bought some vet bed. But I don't know how to use it. I mean does something go over the vet bed or does it go over something else. Is very thick.

You need a layer of something underneath to absorb the water. I use towels.

I've just done the girls' cage. It's like a covering of snow. Honey is laying flat out in the house and pickle is in the tube but she keeps poking her head out. I suppose it will take a bit of getting used to. Honey has already tried to eat it.

They will soon get used to it. I have white vet bed too although it does not look so white now!
