My piggy is in crisis and all vets are booked this is too much he has a blatter stone and is in pain thank God for my mom she just told me she has metacam at least now I can try to ease the pain I've been trying to syringe feed and he won't eat any more please someone help

I’m sorry your boy is unwell. Have a look at the link below for other exotic vets. Otherwise it will be a case of ringing repeatedly in hope there’s a cancellation or they agree to see him.

When the vet diagnosed the bladder stone, did they not book him in for the removal op?

All the best and got everything crossed for you and your boy.

Are you sure it's a stone? Normally vets have you booked in for removal if they're large and can't be passed. Has he been prescribed metacam or is this what you have already at home? Guinea pigs in pain can refuse to eat so I'd weigh him daily (and at the same time each day) to ensure eating enough. If he starts to lose weight you will need to syringe feed him, In the case of syringe feeding you want to aim to get about 100ml of recovery food in him within a 24hr period.

@Siikibam has provided you with a link to find a guinea pig experienced vet in your area. I hope you are able to find one. Keep us updated.

I’m so sorry you lost him. I am with you and can’t believe that no vet would see him at all. Just know you did the very best for him that you could. And I’m sure he felt loved. Take care of yourself.

I’m so sorry you lost your beautiful piggy. It must be so hard when vets in your country aren’t as available as over here. I’m sorry. I lost my wonderful Percy two weeks ago to a bladder stone. We did operate but he just couldn’t recover from the anaesthetic. Even if you had managed to get him seen by a vet the call to the bridge may still have been too strong. You gave him a wonderful life. Take care. ❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can understand your stress about your boy as I've had both boys and girls with stones before and it's very traumatic for the owner who loves them. RIP little Squeaks x

My old boy George recently survived a stone that actually formed in the penis and blocked the bladder. When I turned him over one night I saw the bladder had swelled like a big round bulge - and a lump could actually be seen in the penis. It was very big - the size of a bean - and in the bladder he would have never passed it - but as the stone formed in the penis (gradually building up over time) and could be felt in the ridge so George's was actually squeezed out by the vet. I would never have believed this was possible - I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing - but the stone had a groove down it so you could see where the pee had gone past. I nearly rushed him to the vet when I saw the blockage as this is a serious emergency, but he had no other symptoms (no squealing as he peed, no wet tummy) so I gave him a little time to see if the pee could trickle out in case I'd just caught him at an awkward moment. It did, so we went the next morning.

George didn't have any urinary tract infection which can often be associated with stones or sometimes just occur on their own. He has had just one in the past which our vet said may have triggered the start of a stone forming then. Some of our posters from the States have had trouble with vets saying that UTI is rare in guinea pigs and refusing to give antibiotics without a barrage of tests but in my experience UTI is actually pretty common. It's possible that your current boy has a stone - only a vet would be able to confirm - but it's also possible that at least some of him pain is caused by an infection that could be easily treated with a course of antibiotics. One of my vets had a boy with a stone who was too old for a removal op so he lived out his days on metacam - he didn't have the sharp pain of UTI. So if your boy is in pain it might be stones or it might be UTI - please consider both. Good luck and keep us informed. We'll be thinking of you x

So sorry you've lost sweet Squeaks, what a handsome boy! My boy Eric had a bladder stone and had surgery to have it removed, but he was very poorly and passed away the next morning 😢
RIP Squeaks 🌈❤️

Thank you he was my biggest personality out of my four boys

I realised this morning that I mis-read your first post and was thinking you had another piggy with the same symptoms as poor Squeaks. Sorry if my reply caused any confusion at a difficult time, and once again I'm sorry for your loss. He was a handsome beauty x

Thank you I miss him so much he was the biggest personality out of my four

I'm so sorry. It's so hard to find timely care for small animals in North America. We had something similar with a sick hamster a few months back... I called over twenty vets in our area, no one could take her for days, either because they were booked, closed, or because they didn't treat small animals. It's so frustrating to have an animal that is sick and in pain and want to give them the best possible care and not to be able to see anybody. ((HUGS)) to you and I'm so sorry you lost your sweet boy.
