Hi
My guinea pig pumpkin has had this cancerous growth under her chin / in her neck area. I noticed this getting bigger at the end of November 2023 as she LOVES being pet under her chin. I first noticed it in July last year. It was this solid lump so i took her to her vet. They confirmed it wasn’t an abscess and it was cancer. They said she had a good quality of life at that tine and there was nothing they could’ve done.

We had a scare with her health over new years as she drastically declined and i couldn't afford an emergency vet appointment so we waited and she improved. She thankfully improved.

However - on i want to say Saturday - i had noticed the lump has grown significantly. I knew it was growing in the first place and checked it almost every day. On Saturday i noticed a second lump around the size of a pea which has since grown just bigger than 2 pieces of sweetcorn. This has grown in size in the space of 3 or 4 days. I am worried about this as the location of the lump
makes this incredibly hard to remove it.

The big lump does touch the sides of her jaw when resting and eating but does not seem to be causing any discomfort at this moment.
Obviously, due to its size i am aware she could be in pain or something snd isn't showing it?

The main concern is she is so hungry all the time, constantly begging for food despite eating me
out of house and home. No idea if this is related to the skin cancers she has? I know she has 3. One on her side that is tiny and isn’t growing and then the two in her neck.

I have attached a picture of the rough outline of the lump which does not include where the little one would be.

I’m sorry I don’t have any experience of cancer in piggies. I hope Pumpkin is comfortable and has many more happy days with you. ❤️

Poor Pumkin, I hope you have lots more happy times left. I am sorry I can’t advise. I sure someone with more knowledge might help. My Kiki has just had a hard suspicions lump removed from her shoulder, but otherwise is fine

Thank you everyone. I currently can’t afford to go back to the exotic vets as I spent around 300 on my other pig who had xrays and medication for heart failure.

They are my elderly babies who are around 7 if not older but i am unsure what to do about pumpkin in this situation.

maybe you could try to get help from the rspca or pdsa for help with paying vet bills.I'm sorry you are going through this.
i have tried looking into the pdsa and unfortunately don’t qualify for anything that could get me discounted or free care. I'm sure when it gets worse i will find a way to pay for it but I'm unsure what to do as of right now but thank you for the help 🫶

RSPCA,and BLUECROSS. can help towards costs of vet bills, its worth checking.I'm aware PDSA requires you to be on certain benefits. These two do not.are there any family or friends that can help? maybe see if you can get a payment plan with your vet.If you are honest with them,i usually find they try to help.i do feel for you.ive been there myself.

The RSPCA and BLUECROSS do not offer near me that i am aware of. the PDSA does require me to be on certain benefits which I am not on no. Family are either at University or retired/struggling for money themselves. i will probably have to contact the vets about payment plans as i am struggling to afford the consultation which is above £60.
