Is it ok if I go from paper bedding to wood bedding? Would that hurt my guinea pigs? (The type my neighbor gave me is aspen)

Aspen bedding is fine for guinea pigs, I use it all the time since it is cheaper than paper. Pine and cedar are the harmful wood shavings that should be avoided.

Thank you, I just don’t want them to be bothered because wood and paper feel different but I changed their cage earlier and they seem to not care

Thanks for posting. I was wondering about bedding too, as I first put them on a towel. Then second week I bought barley hay which they loved, but gave me severe asthma. Third week I tried synthetic grass mat, which they at times tried to nibble, and this past week I tried paper grocery bags flattened and topped with some shredded A4 paper. Which one is best for them? I've seen folks sew up fleece cage liners for their piggies, and the lady I got them from just bought a bath mat as liner. #confusedmummy

You need something absorbent - so I would
not use synthetic grass (equally there is the chew risk) or A4 paper (it doesn’t have the absorbing qualities of a proper paper bedding).

You can use fleece and/or bath mats with something absorbent underneath like puppy pads, or a disposable bedding such as wood shavings topped with soft meadow hay (don’t use straw as it’s too sharp and not edible).
