We have a 5-month-old pig called Nutkin and we think there might be something wrong wth him? does anyone know what t is? At first we thought he may be pregnant because he was kind of chubby round the middle but we have checked multiple times and he is almost definitely a boar. He was ill before because someone sprayed weed killer on our dandelions in our garden without us knowing and he ate some but is completely recovered now. He was still a little skinny because he had stopped eating but his tummy was slightly fat. Now he has put on more weight and his ribs are not showing now but his tummy"s got fatter and he purrs or pain squeaks if you touch it. He also drinks more and sleeps more. We have checked and it's definitely not bloat because its not hard but it feels different to David's chubby tummy. We don't know what it is so could we have some help please? 20210512_170512.webp20210512_170502.webp20210512_170431.webp20210512_170427.webp20210512_170407.webp20210512_170512.webp20210512_170502.webp20210512_170431.webp20210512_170427.webp20210512_170407.webp

I'm sorry to hear about your boy's problems.

I'm afraid he is in urgent need of a veterinary appointment. Only a vet can diagnose and offer treatment options. Please do get him seen.

Keeping everything crossed for your boy 🤞

Only a vet check can determine whether there is something wrong, and it’s particularly important if he appears to be in pain as he could be bloated (I know you say you don’t think it is because his tummy isn’t hard, but that alone isn’t a conclusive determination that there isn’t gas in there - only a vet can say for sure)

Piggies come in different shapes and sizes and most simply don’t like their tummy being touched - so those purrs and squeaks may be because he doesn’t like it If no medical cause can be found.

oh no what do you thinks wrong with him?

we can’t tell you what is wrong as we’re not qualified and would only go on your description. As above, please do get him seen by a vet. Preferably sooner rather than later given as he’s squeaking in pain when toileting. Hope it’s something simple.

They generally don’t like their bellies being touched. But given you say he’s stopped eating (are you weighing daily to keep an eye on that?), is skinny and has a big belly, I would get him checked out.
