So I've spent all afternoon rearranging my room (with the help of my dad!) so I can get the piglets a bigger cage! I'm going to get one of the 2x4 cages from this website, but I'm concerned they may be able to jump out?! Crunchie can easily jump on top of her carrot cottage (Elsa not so much, I think she's too lazy :))). If the carrot cottage or something a similar height was at the edge of the cage, would she be able to jump out? Does anyone else have a similar setup with a cheeky jumping piggy?!

Yep, if they have anything they can stand on near the edge I would say they could jump out.

Yes yes and yes they can. My ninja pig:bal: aka patches literally doesn't need anything to jump onto to get out he just hops out:blink: I finally put a lid on top of my c&c cage.

Depends. We had to put a grid by the top of the ramp, brave piggies will jump! My sister swears she saw Godfrey CLIMB. I think if they put their cheeky little minds to it, they can escape anywhere.

Hey! We have the exact same cage from the same website! I haven't had much trouble; but when we block off the extension they do get intrepid. I think it depends on personality, some piggies are such born to create mischief:))

When my girls are in their summer C&C all of their houses are along one long side which is pushed against the wall and they are not allowed any cardboard houses are they can move them and I'm convinced BB would get out. I was worried about they just plain jumping out as I have had a pig who would leap 2feet into the air! But they don't!

Thanks for your advice everyone! of all the pictures I've seen of c&c cages it looks like less than one in ten have a lid... I like to think Crunchie wouldn't jump out as she likes her food too much but she's such a monkey! would it work if I bought a grid separately to but over the top where the carrot house would be maybe? something I really like about c&c cages is how they don't actually look like a cage because they have no lid... so I don't really want to put one on if I don't have to ! But obviously I don't want Crunchie making a break for freedom either :))

Ours has a loft, so if we put the cottages under the loft, no jumping to freedom:Palso, one side of the cage is against the wall, the other is against their extension which is the heigh of a run, so..

That's a good idea putting it under the loft! I think I'd be too paranoid about them having a loft right now ( even hough I know lots of people have them and their piggies are perfectly safe!)... what if I draped some fleece over the bit where the carrot cottage would be?
I've found a mesh lid which looks a lot nicer than the grid ones but it's from an American website and just as expensive as the grids! :hmm:

I have a girl that can jump out of anything. But when she moved into the C&C cage she was fine. Hasn't even attempted. x

I've never had a pig jump out, but i'd definitely be careful around things they can climb up on.
