Okay guys, I have one very spoiled piggie whom I love and he gets floor time for over an hour a day, and cuddles over an hour every night. I talk to him all day and clean his cage twice a day and anything I can. I are everywhere that I must have two. Is that make or break? I rescued him from a bad home and there wasn't a lot of forethought. He had cuts and no water or food. He is in a good size cage for him alone, 30x18, but I don't think that's big enough for two and I can't build a cage cause I live in an apartment and I have roommates and there isn't room. When I set floor time his area takes up most of the living room floor anyway. So, without being mean or rude, is it okay? He is very friendly and loved.

Have you got a teddy in the cage with him, to cuddle when your not about. If not its a good idea to get one for him, a cuddly ted of some kind that is suitable for newborn babies is what you need :)
All the best, and well done for giving your poor piggy a loving second chance.
* I'm sure others will be here soon with other tips

I will get him a newborn bear! No plastic eyes or anything he can choke on. He had a blanket and pillow. I made the pillow myself and it's done with outdoor fabric so it's tough and his blanket is too. My finance watched last night as he stretched out in his blanket with his pillow and went to bed after cuddles. It was sooooo cute.

A teddy can keep him company also try a mirror so he can admire himself too :)
He'll need extra extra attention if you do intend to keep him by himself

In an ideal world then, yes, your piggy would have a friend but this isn't always possible due to your own circumstances.

Sounds as though he has a great life with you!

I like the mirror idea for queencupcake's piggy jess :) I wanted to get a plastic mirror and attach it to the side panel of my hutch for my boys but I don't know if that's a good idea for boars our not.

Ideally it would be up to him to choose a friend at a good rescue, but he sounds like he is getting pelnty of attention and stimulation throughout the day.

If you are there with him during the day, then he is getting the attention and stimulation that he needs.

Have you considered playing him piggy noises/videos from the internet? Don't buy an expensive mirror; as the piggy in it doesn't smell or speak, it tends to lose interest fairly quickly in my experience.

I considered putting a mirror in with my girls but reconsidered as I thought they would end up falling out with their own reflections, which is a strong possibility. Whenever I take a piggie out and look in the mirror they just stare trying to figure out who is who.
I only suggested as it worked out well for another piggie owner who had a single piggie called Mr Bailee Boy he was so full of beans bless him!

Mirror, I will. He likes to look in the phone when I take his picture so maybe he will like it. Yeah whenever I am near him I talk and sometime reach in for pets. I played a video a few times and the first time he responded but after that he didn't show interest. Preferred licking my face! Yes ideally he would have a buddy and since it's not a option I am going to do my best to keep him happy. 2 more questions: I am getting a part time job, will he be okay those hours I am gone? Will still get floor time and cuddles but I will be gone a few hours a day. 2: I am going to my mothers wedding and will be gone for 5 days. I have been coaching my fiancée on proper Sheldon care, cleaning, making Fresh veggies, hay and pellet and water, floor then, cuddles. And he has sworn to do his best but I know it won't be the same. Will Sheldon be okay? My fiancée works full time so he won't be around all day and he just isn't gonna baby Sheldon like I do. I keep myself up at night worrying over this. HELP!

Also do you think he gets enough attention? I am very careful about making sure he has at least an hour of floor time and an hour of cuddles... Usually closer to two though of each unless he is being super fussy that night for cuddles.

Hi, the part time job won't affect him as long as he has toys to play with/chew and a cuddle bear to snuggle upto, as well as food, plenty of hay to last the time your away and fresh water before you go to work then give him as much lap time/floor time as you can when your at home.
As for going away and leaving your other half in charge, the same things applies before he goes to work each morning if he feeds, chats and fusses your piggy before work and same again once he's home as well as cleaning him out when it's needed, he will be find until you get back and take over.
:)

Ideally all guinea pigs should live with company but it sounds like he has a much nicer life with you than he had before, so please dont get too anxious!

Okay I gave him a small stuff animal, it's actually a dragon not a bear but soft and no plastic parts so I thought it would be good. I am also making him a mirror for his cage right now so yay! And leaving a detailed list for the other half to take care of Sheldon.

Great news @QueenCupcake post a photo of him snuggled to his new friend if you can would love to see photos of him :)
Well done for making him happy and settled, fab idea about making a list for your other half to follow while your away.

Haha if I could figure out how to post pictures I would! As soon as he gets used to his dragon baby I will take a picture! Yeah I made a 2 page list and taped it on the wall inside our bedroom door.

OMG OMG OMG panic attack. Got ahold of my fiancée and apparently while he was at work one of our roommates took it upon herself to assume my fiancée hadn't cared for Sheldon and got him out for a second floor time and cup of veggies. This makes 2 cups today and floor time isn't bad but what if she scared him or dropped him or something? What if she gave a wrong veggie? Yes she got asked politely not to do it again or get him out without permission because I get she thought she was being nice but I am flipping out!
