I got this young pig about 3 weeks ago. He was fine as far as we saw then last night my daughter noticed what looks like a sore under his lip. We tried to take pictures but he's a bit of a nervous ninny very shy we are still working with him to calm him and he is with an older male who takes care of him. I have spent the day looking for a vet in my area and found 0ne but he has no openings till next wed and I don't know what to d with this little boy. Someone on Facebook said it looks like cheilitis never heard of it and researched it and found your page. Can someone help me till I can get him to a vet. After reading how to upload pictures there is no button to do that so not sure how to show you his wound. Thank you

Hi and thank you but that wasn't given as a button for me to click when I created the post after clicking the Post Thread button. All I had on the bottom right was Post Reply in a green button. Oh now on the left side is a green button that says attach files. Strange it wasn't there when I created a post. Here is a shot of what I clicked and what it looked like when I wrote the post.

Here is Harvey Dent aka two face (yes daughter is a batman fan no clue who she got it from😇) and here are the pictures of the wound or what ever it is. No vet in my area to see him and when I found a vet to travel to he cant see him till Wed. I hope this wont spread to the older one with him or be hurting the wee little one

No worries, for future reference here's an image when creating a thread.. There's also an option to add tags 😃

Harvey's a gorgeous boy 😍

I’m afraid we can’t say whether it is or isn’t, but cheilitis is sores around the mouth. Please do take the appointment on Wedneaday.
Cheilitis, should that be what he is diagnosed with, is bacteria getting into cracks in the skin around the mouth. To help prevent this, ensure you don’t feed fruit or acidic items such as tomatoes as those items can cause the cracks.
Let us know how you get on at the vet

I believe the attach files button does not appear immediately for new members. It takes a little while for your registration to complete and then the button will be visible

Thank you I am set to go wed. We have been feeding sweet peppers cut up in pieces red, yellow, orange and the green peppers so should I stop giving them? Strange the other 3 my daughter bought over a year ago never developed this but Harvey has. They are all in their own cages but we put Harvey with one of them and he's been there since he got here so could that have triggered this thing under his lip?

Bell pepper is absolutely fine to feed. It’s a perfectly safe staple daily food. Although any new veggies should be introduced into the diet slowly.
Fruit and tomatoes should be avoided as they are acidic and can cause the cracks in the skin that can lead to cheilitis

Bonding won’t cause cheilitis (if that is what he is diagnosed with). Cheilitis is bacteria getting into cracks in the skin.
