Hey, can someone please help me on what this is? I saw it on my guinea pigs tummy after cleaning her. I’m worried it could be something that requires me to go to the vets. But I would just like to see if it could be something silly that I’m worrying about.
Thankyou, any help or advice would be great!

Hi

It could be a burst sebaceous cyst but only a hands-on vet examination can tell you for sure. We can only guess.
You may want to discuss with your vet whether removal may be a consideration as cysts can refill and can also get infected once burst, especially when on a belly where it comes into contact with excrements.

hi Thankyou so much for both of your replies. It is the first time I’ve seen her with this. If it’s a burst cyst how quick would it have burst? I’ll contact my vet and let them know that I would like them to check her out. Would you say this is very serious ? Is she in pain or anything.

It isn’t serious but like Wiebke has said, it could become infected if left untreated. Your vet may choose to prescribe a course of antibiotics to prevent infection. I doubt she’s in pain, just a little uncomfortable perhaps

:agr:A vet visit is definitely called for to identify what this is and whether it needs treatment.
