i bonded maisie and eddie in the bedroom as it was the only place big enough we had really.

now soon i need to bond eddie and his new friend treacle. can i use the bedroom again or does it have to be a completely new area? i have neutralised the grids for the pen, bought new fleece blankets, but is this enough?

the only other place is the landing but it's sooooo tiny and will be such a squeeze. so then the pen will be alot smaller than i would normally use.

thanks :)

It can be the same place. A "neutral" space is simply an area that is not firm part of the regular territory of any of the piggies involved. ;)

oh ... :)) i thought it had to be completely new. i was running out of places  x

I use either the area underneath the kitchen table with a spare fleece (that gives the piggies a feeling of protection) or bring one of my runs inside.

Dominance against an "intruder" is much stronger, and the "invading" guinea pig is very aware of being in another group's territory and will be on the defence. This can result very quickly in a tussle or even a full-blown fight. Letting the piggies meet on equal footing outside a familiar area avoids that problem.

thank you. i can get the bonding pen set up ready aswell then. she's not even here yet, but i like to be organised :)) x

Hope all goes well. I usually set up a neutral run in my hallway for bonding as the only scent there is from my lads' shoes!

As long as if your using it the same day it's been disinfected and even if not the same day it's been cleaned I don't see why not?
