Hello :). I know quite well that 2 male piggies cannot be with 1 or two females (sows). However there are 4 female Guinea pigs at my local shelter that me or my cousin is planning on adopting. I have 2 bonded boars at home and don’t know if 2 boars can be with 4 sows. Thanks :)

No they can’t.
if you have a bonded pair of boars, you cannot put any more piggies of either sex in the same cage with them at all as it will cause your boars to fight and break their bond. Plus an unneutered boar cannot be anywhere near a sow as he will get her pregnant. A pair of boars needs to stay as just that.

if you take on any more piggies they need to be kept in a separate cage.

if you were to take on any sows, they would also ideally need to be kept in a separate room to your current boar pair. Just smelling sows in the same room can also cause your boars to fight with each other over the sows even if they aren’t in the same cage. This would break their bond and mean they would no longer be able to live together.

Hi!

Only ever 1 de-sexed boar with any number of sows. The rest is a recipe for fights and fall-outs, not to mention a nonstop breeding mess.
Here is a guide that spells it all out: Adding More Guinea Pigs Or Merging Pairs – What Works And What Not?

Sows should also be best kept in a different room as their pheromones when they come into season will seriously upset boars and can lead to fall-outs.
A Comprehensive Guide to Guinea Pig Boars (see chapter 3)

Before you adopt so many piggies, please make sure that you can pay for any vet bills because guinea pigs are small prey animals that suppress any signs of illness until they can no longer. By the time a piggy is looking ill, it is already seriously ill and needs to be seen by a vet as quickly as possible. You will need to save up for a vet fund on a weekly basis as part of their regular living cost. Freedom from pain and suffering is one of the basic 5 internationally (including UK and USA) accepted animal rights.

Could you please add your country and state rather than your actual location to you details. It is not only for your own privacy protection but also because this forum is based in the UK with members from literally all over the globe. It would help us to know wether you are Middle American, South American or US based.
