Can Guinea Pigs eat paper?

Not really. They can chew plain brown cardboard but even then you don’t want them eating much

Can guinea pigs eat paper with ink on it? Is it safe for them to eat?

Hi

The ink can be toxic and white paper has been highly treated. Newspaper ink is usually no longer toxic these days and the paper is lower grade and therefore better for piggies.
Shredded paper bedding should be ideally covered with a fleece blanket that has got any softeners washed out and is wicking any pee to the absorbent level below.

For enrichment purposes, brown cardboard or paper is best but should only be used in moderation as too much can cause blockages.

If your piggy has accidentally eaten some printed paper, then it is unlikely that there are going to be problems from a one-off; we have never seen any on here. The digestive tract is very good at breaking down plant fibre but paper is not an ideal food source since it is not exactly high in nutrition.
