Hello wonderful Guinea Pig Parents,

Hope you and your little ones doing great.

I currently feed Cherry Berry celery every day. However, the problem is a lot of celery is left as they get a small portion. No one fancies celery in my family. So it is kinda wasted.

I was wondering if I can slowly swap it with Asparagus it would be better. However, if I can't I will continue with celery and figure out something to do with it.

Best Wishes,
Guinea Pug Mum

Personally I would worry that daily asparagus could be a bloat risk and also cause some very stinky poops and pees! Also piggies tend not to be that keen on it.
Cucumber is a good alternative to celery, many piggies including my own get a daily slice of cucumber amongst their veggies as none of us like a lot of celery.
Bell peppers are the best daily veg for vitamin c, combined with a variety of leaves and herbs like coriander/cilantro, and babyleaf lettuce mixes- and cucumber is commonly fed daily and is very popular with most piggies!
Asparagus is safe to feed piggies but probably more like a small amount once or twice a week as it is a bit gassy :)

Okay, thanks. They do get cucumber, bell peppers, coriander, baby lettuce and celery every day. I will continue with this and figure out some good recipes to make with the remaining celery 😊

I add celery to tomato based pasta sauces, cut small it adds a nice texture but doesn't really affect the taste. Or veggie soup. Our family, both humans and piggies all prefer it raw so I very rarely have any leftover.

Hi!

I would not recommend to feed asparagus daily. Cucumber or lettuce is a better replacement for low nutrition/high fluid content veg.
