Thanks for the tag!

You will be fine. I keep a cockatiel in the same room as the pigs, in fact their cages are almost right next to each other. The only thing I actively prevent is any seed falling into the pigs cage. So I have a fleece over that side of the guinea pig cage.. which doubles up as I hidey for them :)

Your pigs shouldn’t produce any fumes or strong smells unless you don’t clean them out often enough.

I love cockatiels ❤️. Do you ever let him out of his cage?

I'm working on it. I’ve only had Percy for a few weeks and he must have been aviary raised as he is absolutely petrified of me :( I’ve been desperately trying to find him a tame friend for a while now, which I’m hoping will help boost his confidence around me or at least give him safe guidance outside of the cage.
We will get there one day I hope. I hate that he is couped up in a stupid cage :(

thanks for the answer i appreciate it

Guinea pigs can catch psittacosis and other illnesses if they are kept on the floor of an aviary. Make sure that you budgie cannot defecate into the cage and can also not drop food (seeds) into it and doesn't have direct access into the cage.

Any pet smells to a certain degree. Guinea pigs pee and poo a lot, so you will have to poo patrol and spot clean the worst affected areas daily and clean out the cage twice a week. They are not the easy, low effort pets that most people mistakenly think - in fact rather the opposite. On the other hand, they are very interactive so you are repaid for all the effort you put in over the next 5-7 years of a normal healthy life span.

Of course. I'm gonna bird proof them so no seeds go in their living space and cleaning often is a must

I kept budgies in the same room as my guinea pigs for years, and never had a problem.
As others have said making sure things can't fall from one cage into the other is important, but we just made sure there was a decent space betwen the two and kept on top of cleaning.

Welcome to the forum.
This an excellent place for questions and answers.
