Maybe this question sounds silly, but I’ve been doing research and haven’t found much about this. Has anyone had a pig with arthritis for example on their back legs and their feet are occasionally more red and swollen some days and more pink on other days? The vet hadn’t said much about the color of his feet so I assumed it’s normal with arthritis. I think maybe the amount of redness depends on the day when he shifts his weight from his front to his back paws to have less pressure on his hind legs? If anyone has any answers please let me know :) My pig is also on metacam just a disclaimer. He’s doing much better on pain killers and is wanting to walk around more :)

Piggies with limited mobility can end up sitting more which can cause their feed to become red. Ensure bedding in high traffic areas is changed regularly (if you’re using fleece, then adding in some pee pads can help as they can be removed and washed more often).

Speaking to the vet about it would be a good idea though just to ensure there isn’t something else going on

Yes, a pig of mine with severe arthritis definitely had sore feet. I found sudocrem was the most effective cream i tried (i tried bepanthan too but sudocrem worked best)

:agr: with @Piggies&buns

Sudocrem can dry out skin and promote cracking. We do have recommendations for better care products in our green mobility guide link, which has been proof-read by a very experience exotics nurse with guinea pig interest. The guide also contains information for finding a suitable local brand in other countries.

Ooops - sorry! It seemed to work a wonder on my old benson - i mind when he passed looking at his beautifully healed feet and being very proud of how well i had brought them back into such a good condition.

I will check out the link and see what i should have used:doh:

Well i wasnt way off the mark with the Sudocrem as it is one of the few creams listed on that link - only with a caution to apply thinly and not on open sores.

I maybe should have just clarified I'm no health expert though - was only giving anecdotal info based on my own experience which could have been misleading, i do suppose.

Thank you so much, along with some pee pads I also wanted to order him some vet bed for more cushion. He’s on fleece and he loves it so much more than aspen shavings.
