Hi
Need help

I'm not feeling at all well :(

This started about 20 minutes ago. All of a sudden I started feeling dizzy and shaky. (and yawning like crazy)
Now Ive got a really upset stomach and nausea and I keep doing icky burps

Can anyone recommend anything I can get from the chemist to take these poorly feelings away?

I get that when being at the computer too long. A break away from it and deep breaths, and nurofen helps.

It sounds as though you have some kind of virus infection?
Probably not much you can do but rest, stay warm, drink water little and often and wait for it to pass. Obviously if you begin to feel worse ring NHS direct for advice or see your GP.

Just a thought but some of what you decribe can be attributed to low blood sugar levels, have you eaten today? You aren't diabetic, I'd guess not or you would know the signs ::)

I had similar symptoms recently when I came down with tonsilitis.

Nurofen for sure and maybe a cuppa, with a biscuit to help with the nausea.

Hope you feel better soon!

Barbara, I agree - the first thing I thought of was a sugar crash.

Try to eat a low carb diet to minimise the impact on your sugar.

When I feel like that, my sugar levels are fine. Could well be a number of things, but I've experienced the same many a time, and it being the pc :)

It seems to be passing - just shaky and a bit shivery now

I had some chicken nuggets at 12.15pm, followed by a walk outside for 30 mins
Then I came back and had a bowl of carrot and corriander soup and its half way through this that I started feeling poorly

Thanks for all the advice

Like Beks i felt the same when i was coming down with tonsilitus, keep warm and keep having lots of drinks

Hope you feel better soon

I've had a bug like that a couple of times, was horrid, always felt slightly better after being sick though, but it too came with the shakes. And how I hate those eggy burps :-\

Last time it happened I was driving when I was sick, hubby was trying to catch it while I tried to pull over to stick my head out the door, it went everywhere...

Hope you feel better now :)

Well its been 3 weeks now and this thing keeps on coming and going .....

Upset tum, mild nausea, and chronic wobbly legs. Boxing day I was really rough... wonder if it was directly related to lots of rich food on Christmas day?
Id go to the docs but I'm going on holiday tomorrow :(

My Mum reckons I might have IBS

I'm going to stop drinking alcohol and caffeine in general and starve myself for 24 hours to see if it is a bug.
And I'm going to take some acidopholus (sp) in case my gut bacteria is all over the place

If anyone has any other suggestions Id be very grateful

Sorry to hear you're still poorly. I think you should go to the docs and get it checked out.

Big hugs for you
x

Thankyou

I just called my docs and they are shut this pm !
I explained the situation and the receptionist is going to ask the Doc to call me and give me telephone advice so at least I might get an idea of what the issue might be .... viral or otherwise

I have had IBS on an off for years a while ago I begged the DR to remove my stomach as the pain was so bad and this is from a mum of 5 all natural no pain relief labour and births so it must have been bad, I now take probiotics every day and its helped a lot, the one thing i would always recomend for stomach upset sickness is pepto bismol bright pink but is brilliant, hope you get to the bottom of it , the other thing thats good is rennie deflatine gets rid of burps and wind and fullness

Thanks

Ive had no stomach ache at all so it doesnt sound like IBS.
I have the pepto bismol and some Diarsafe probiotics

NHS Direct just called me back and said "See your GP" and to keep hydrated and avoid dairy produce til then
That is going to be fun in America :-\

If it is IBS it can cause a huge variation of symptoms. I have had it on and off, mostly off thankfully for years.
For many it kicks off when we are stressed, mine started when we were waiting to finalise the house sale when we married and again, big time when my gran and aunt were dying and my dog needed major surgery ::)

It's generally more abdominal gripe like spasmodic pain, but it can be felt antwhere below the diaphragm. My pain was so bad, the doctor sent me for a scan of my ovaries, which thankfully proved neg.

Until you see your doc and indeed beyond that if it is IBS, consider relaxation techniques, I have found the Bach remedies marvelous and swear by Aloe Vera juice. Tastes foul, but you can buy it "flavoured" or buy the tablets. Though I have found the juice the most effective.

Whatever the problem, if it is realted to your digestive system aloe vera should help you. You can buy it in Boots or any health food store.
Hope you feel better soon,
Barbara

Thankyou so much - I will try aloe vera juice.

Can it be taken safely with my probiotic supplement?

I'm thinking that I might be suffering from stress or anxiety ( as its so on and off) so I'm going to try some Bach remedies for those

I think it should be fine with the probiotic, but if you are taking aloe vera juice, you probably won't actually need it. Do ask in a good health food shop though as they are generally pretty good at giving advice.

Stress and anxiety can and does cause all kinds of weird and "wonderful" symptoms, though we obviously should always get ourselves checked out properly when feeling ill. You might find that after seeing your doctor you will feel reassured and start to feel better too :)
I hope so.

I allegedly had IBS from the age of 17 - 27 until I was correctly diagnosed as coeliac. I did try Aloe vera for IBS, also Colofac is very good for gut spasms, and Colpermin, which is a peppermint oil capsule. I also have heard artichoke supplement is good, and of course charcoal is and I used to take that.

Must be something in the air then! I spent two days in hospital 3 weeks ago after I was curled up in agony and rushed in as my GP thought it would be my appendix. Thankfully not. Had an ultrasound scan done today to make sure it wasn't anything in my ovaries - again all clear given!

So now I get to see a nutritionist in the new year and start making dietry modifications to see if that sorts it out. My abdominal pain has been going on for about 8 weeks now and is driving me nuts :D. Have also been feeling tired and nauseus and dizzy and generally yuck.

Billies Mum - hope you feel better soon and hope you have a fantastic holiday. If it is IBS, as already mentioned, stress can make it worse so I know it is hard but try to relax if you can. It may help a little.
