Can anyone tell me what this is I’ve found in my piggy’s back? It wasn’t attached to the skin, no bleeding either but he’s eating and drinking ok. BF104438-F345-4ADB-B4FD-B7ABD56E2ECE.webpBF104438-F345-4ADB-B4FD-B7ABD56E2ECE.webp

There’s no harm in taking said piggy to the vet. How long have you had him? And does he live alone? If not, have you found anything on the other piggy?

He’s about 3, he lives alone as our other piggy who was the same age died last year.

What does the spot it came from look like? How has his weight been? That’s the best way to tell whether he’s eating enough (hay). I would get him seen just to rule anything out. Then please see about getting him a friend.

There doesn’t appear to be a spot that I can see where it came from. His weight is normal and he eats everything I give him and out of his bowl. When the other piggy died I asked the vet about getting another piggy and he said that if this one seemed ok by himself it was fine.

Please don’t commit him to a lonely life. Could you imagine living alone for 3-4 more years without contact with other humans? That’s essentially what he’d be going through. They’re highly social and need companionship of their own kind.

Please get in touch with rescues and get on their lists. Hopefully they’ll be back to ‘normal service’ soon and you can have him paired up. Another consideration would be to have him neutered and he can have a sow friend after six weeks. But that would be a wait because neutered aren’t on the list of ‘treatments’ at the moment.

:agr: Really rather sad that the condoned keeping him alone. They get on with life by themselves because they have no choice but to do so, but he will thrive having a new character compatible friend.

If you are worried about the scab then theres no harm in having a vet see him.
