I have two sows called Penny and Pickles.

Today I thought i would put in some shredded paper for them to rustle around in, but for some reason they started rumbling and Pickles (dominant) started chasing penny round the cage and trying to keep her in the pigiloo, there was also a lot of teeth chattering.

I thought i would let them be for a little while because they do have their fallouts, but then pickles started literally flying at penny. The only thing that had changed in the cage was the paper, so i took the paper out, to see if this was the problem and sure enough they have been fine ever since (although they haven't really spoken to each other, so to speak).

But, why on earth has a pile of shredded paper caused such a fall out!?

Rumbling is most often put down to dominance behaviour but piggies can rumble for different reasons including when they are excited. they probably found the paper quite exciting and entertaining and it is possible Penny started rumbling for this reason and pickles misunderstood her meaning and thought she was trying to be dominant and so reminded her who was in charge. :)

That's so cute in a kinda pitiful way :))
