Hi i want to buy a wireless camera that i can watch through my phone but I'm having a real struggle finding one. It has to be wireless as i want to put it in my pigs shed. Does anyone have one of these or know where i can buy one thats relatively cheap?

We have CCTV for the house. Not used it for the guinea pigs though as it triggers and records everytime there is a heat/movement combo and I think the batteries would last just a day or two if it recorded the pigs, also it's not cheap. I know @Flutterby has a set up in her piggy room but not sure whether it's wireless or not

Ah mines can’t have any wires and would have to be battery operated. Thanks though 😁

Did you look at the link. It looks like the cameras themselves are wireless and there is a separate power pack that needs plugging in for them to work so no need for wires near the piggies

Yes we have a ‘guinea cam’ it’s called fosscam, if you wanted to get one I would recommend ordering one from the fosscam website direct rather than amazon or eBay as there are fake imitations out there. Pros - your piggy’s can be watched 24hrs a day, you can download the fosscam app on your phone too. Cons - it’s complicated to set up, quite pricey (about £90), we had to get a microphone to go with it which is so powerful you can hear them chewing. Also you can’t download videos from it or at least I haven’t figured out how to which is a shame coz I’ve got some brilliant ones.

If you are interested, we have the old version (the one on the link which is £49.99), they don’t offer updates for this one anymore but it still works fine, it actually states out of stock so I presume they have stopped selling it now but the more recent models would be even better.

Do you have an old phone?

I set up 'Alfred' app on an old Android phone.
Free unless you want to buy 'extras'

Alfred Home Security Camera - Apps on Google Play

Works brilliantly for a free solution.

Obviously you would have to keep an eye on the battery level of the phone and charge when needed. But could get a power pack to plug into it quite cheaply

Does it need to be plugged in? As I'm using it out in a shed with no power i would need a battery operated camera
