I've been using Megazorb bedding for about four years now and have always found it an excellent bedding for my pigs. But lately I have had a couple of bags which seem excessively dusty. The dust seems to coat everything it comes into contact with and leaves a horrible grey residue in the cage. Has anyone else had this problem with it?

yes, alot of people have mentioned problems with the quality. it's alot more dusty than it used to be. we stopped using it quite a while ago. have you tried fitch? i highly recommend it. :)

eta: people mentioned the dust and also the smell. i heard it compared to the smell of sick alot!

whoops I must have missed the thread about it; didn't realise it had already been mentioned :mal:. Can't say I've noticed the sicky smell though.

I currently use Megazorb, its always been a bit dusty but I thought it was better for the piggies than wood shavings. What is best for them in an indoor run? I also have an area of meadow hay for sleeping under a log cover. Thanks

you could use newspaper and hay, or something like fitch. or even fleece, padded fleece blankets, bedpads etc.. :)

I used to use this but also thought it smelt of sick. After a while we stopped noticing the smell (although god knows what visitors thought about the constant smell of sick!) but found it very dusty. I then switched to fleece and have never looked back.

We used it for years but more recently it started smelling really badly. We changed to Auboise which we are finding very good.

which is the best value for money do you think? I was paying about £8 for 80 litres of megazorb but it cost me twice the price due to p&p!

I use to megazorb it was okay until clean out day... The mixture of megazorb and hay sent my allergies haywire! Now using fleece, puppy pad and newspaper

I use finacard in the litter trays then fleece everywhere else.Love TT h we finacard

I also tried finacard and found it worked quite well. However mine wouldn't stop eating it and actually lost a bit of weight as they weren't eating as much of everything else as obviously there's no nourishment in cardboard so I stopped using it.

I've noticed the megazorb is more dusty than it used to be too. Think I might try some Aubiose and see how they get on with it. Mine tend to like resting and sleeping on the hay they pull out from their racks! Those who use Aubiose already - where do you get it from?

Been trying to source some Aubiose locally today, and it's seems to be hard to find. I've had a recommendation of Hemcore (hemp based) and Equinola (straw based) alternatives. Has anyone tried these?

I get my Aubiose from a local equine supplier. I think I read somewhere that Kennelgate pet shops sell it too. I note you are from Derby and there are quite a few Kennelgate branches near Derby.

so the aubiose arrived today; first impressions are good. It's pleasant to use, not at all dusty or smelly and feels quite soft. MASSIVE bag though which was a bit difficult to move about. I think it will last me ages though which is good as it about £9 per bag plus p+p which worked out at over £16.
