Hey peeps,

Now that Skittles has bonded with two other females i need to upgrade their cage for more room, my mum was looking at this MASSIVE Indoor Double Corner Cage Rabbit & Guinea Pig by Little Friends #1244 but i can't work out the square feet?

I've tried c&c's in the past but they've all ended up in disaster!

If not is there a commercial cage anyone could recommend for 3 piggies?

Thanks in advance! :)

Despite the above cage being advertised as 'massive' it is actually quite small in terms of surface area.
One level (without taking the ramp into consideration) is just over 0.7m squared, which is certainly not nearly enough space for 3 guinea pigs.
When calculating space you should really only count one level, as it is assumed that some pigs will only ever use one level.

Can I ask why you didn't get on with a C&C cage, and what sort of cage you are looking to get now?
Maybe if people know more about the reasons you didn't like the C&C, they could come up with some alternative suggestions.

Without knowing the size of the shortest side I cant accuratly calculate it but I would guess it to be roughly 7 square foot which is too small for 2 guinea pigs definatly too small for 3.

I agree with above posters - it's the floor space that counts.

What went wrong with your C&C's by the way ?

The shortest side is 1 meter.

The two back sides are 1meter, the ones that fit into the corner. I ment the short sides that join onto the diagonal side. They look roughly 1/3 of the full side (33cm) but thats just a guess

Thanks i didn't think it looked big enough, my c&c's went wrong as they we're stacked and one my cats climbed on them it started to collapse in the corner and i was worried my girls would get squashed. Gonna shuffle my room round and see if i can make a single level c&c for them :)

:yikes:

Haha yeah it was super scary i got from work and my mum had let our main coon cat in my room and it just buckled under his weight! He no longer allowed in my room XD

I should think not ! That'll teach you puss !

:D I might have this completely wrong but: if you add up the measurements 100 + 100 + 142 = 341 CM. Then divide 341 by 4 = 85.25 CM. So you have a square cage with sides measuring 85.25 CM , which is less than 2.5 C and C grids wide. A very small space.
If I've done my maths wrong, please let me know!

haha he's terrible for climbing which we know now, we'd only just got from a rescue when he did this. But now we'll come home and find him on top of the fridge and things!

What about looking at a wooden run for their house? I have a wooden run with a hutch on top and i can lean on it fine with no problems so it should take the weight of your cats ok

:D Cats like to be high up, so they can look down on us! :)) You know how the saying goes? Dogs look up to us, cats look down on us and pigs treat us as equals!

..... or should it say " and pigs treat us a slaves " !
