Right I am looking into getting a Guinea soonish and wondered if anyone knows where I can get a good cheap cage from?
Or if anyone has one they would like to give me I would like that too!

Any info would be great.

Thanks

Guinea pigs need a lot of space that some pet store cages do not live up to or are too expensive. A good alternative would be a C&C cage. These are much cheaper and can be accommodated to your own sizes. Take a look through this site for more information: http://guineapigcages.com/

Also, guinea pigs need a friend. They are much more interesting to watch if they've got a buddy - lots of interacting. If you go to a rescue to get your guinea pig (highly recommended - they give you lots of advice and tips and also if you are to get a sow they won't be pregnant) they may already have bonded pairs - that way you won't have to go through the introduction process.

I wish you luck with your future guinea pig(s). xx

I always suggest C&C it can be expanded, which is always a great plus!
Cubes and Correx. Cubes can be found cheap on Ebay

And correx can be found here:

It's cheaper than buying a store bought cage. I asked here about store bought cages once and through personal experience everyone suggested a Rabbit 150 or a cage to those measurements was really the best option.
these cages always look nice and big...But once you start filling them with stuff, they soon shrink. Lack of space means more chance that your pigs will fight and then you end up with two single pigs and less space! :o

But yeah, if you want cheap...C&C is the way to go.
Or Zooplus, as suggested above! They sell big cages for good prices.

This is a really good thread. Took me a while to find it rolleyes but I knew it was here somewhere.

If you do go for the C&C option, never fear, everyone here is lovely and friendly and no one will think twice about helping you if you have any problems.

I will...Stop talking now... :x

I have 2x Rabbit 150 and they are excellent cages, but aren't cheap, they are anything up to £155 each.

B&Q have the grids for C&C cages in black currently with 25% off, here is the link - These may seem more expensive than the ones on eBay however this pack has more grids in it.

Guineas should live in pairs or small groups (2+ sows / 2 boars or neutered boar + sow/s) for 2 sows or neutered boar/sow pair the Zooplus cage shown would be the right size but you would need bigger for a larger group and preferably for 2 boars as well.

The Zooplus cage is great especially for the money :)) or this one http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/rodents/cages/guinea_pig_cages/120_cm_cages/14083

Welcome to the forum btw:)p

No offence meant but I think you maybe need to think about the other expenses of owning a guinea pig [vets bills etc] if you are already struggling with the basics.

thanks

thanks all I'm not struggling with the basics just wanted opinions on the best cage etc and where to get value for money there is no harm in that is there?

iv just ordered some of these yesterday, only problem with b&q is they are saying they cant gaurentee you actully gettin them as you have to pay and have tem sent into a store from some random country i have never heard of, so I'm keeping fingeres crossed they actually arrive!

Another option if you're not bothered about it being brand new is checking out classified sites like preloved, stuff4sale, freeads or even ebay for a bargain.
I got my Nero 4 for a great price from stuff4sale :))

Equine Canine Feline sometimes have cheap cages too:)

thanks again someone has offered me this cage

For free do you think it is a good one?

That's a lovely hutch, I had my two boars in one for a while, lots of space there!

Only thing is, if you get two boars, the hole to the sleepy bit is quite small and the more dominant boar may try and control it and stop the less dominant boar getting in, so it would be a good idea to cut it a bit bigger - it's easily done!

It can also go outside in the summer months, mine is!
