Ok, I have tried to move my room around a bit, because that is where my piggies will live, but there is no room for a C&C cage! I want my piggies to have plenty of room, but there is no way that I can fit a huge cage in my room. I have a space that isn't being used at 83cm, but I checked on the rescue home's website, where I will be getting my piggies and they said the cage needs to be 4 feet by 2 feet. That is 122cm long, I tried moving things around and 130cm is what I can now use if I get rid of my bedside table and pop it in the garage. I know it isn't a lot of room, but it is all I have for the moment, so can anyone recommend me some good cages that are about 125cm? I say 125cm because I don't want everything to be too squished up and for my guinea pigs to start chewing on my mattress.

I have until Christmas, so if I find a way of giving my piggies some more space, I will let you know. Thanks everyone!

I've got a pair of piggies in a ferplast 120 cage but also have a check again about c&c sizes. 3 grids x 2 grids is the recommended minimum c&c cage size for 2 piggies and each grid is approx 36cm so a 3x2 cage would be 118cm x 72cm if you connect them with cable ties rather than the plastic connectors (supposed to be more secure too, using cable ties, as a bonus). I think that gives you more floor space in the cage for the piggies than a shop bought 120 cage does and is cheaper to buy usually. It sounds like it would fit where you are planning too?

I really want them to be in my room so I can interact with them more. If I see them everyday I know I will take them out and they will have more floor time/ play time.

I used to have a 120cm cage, for one single piggy, i personally don't think they offer great space for two piggies.
In my eyes you should stick to minimum of a 2x4 C&C for two piggies, (i thought this is what everyone used to recommend?)
My cage comes in at about 140cm x 70cm and i wish i could have it bigger, at the end of the day, even with floor time your pigs will spend around 80% of it's time in that space with each other, so you want to make it as big as possible to offer your piggies a chance to spend time together and apart if that makes sense?
If you really only have 130cm to use, buy c&c grids and overlap some at the end so you make the most of all the space there, then add a 1x2 upper level or something to gain some space from heigh as well, i wouldn't recommend a two tier cage, but just some sort of upstairs space so that if your pigs have any arguments they have another area to go to, to spend time apart. 10 cm's extra doesn't sound like much but it really does make all the difference!

I have this shelf in my cage, it makes a big difference! Only my boar can use it, so we call it his 'man shelf'!

Can't get my link to work! But they are on eBay. The shelf is also a good hidey underneath aswell.

I'd agree with this even though I have had 2 piggies in 120 cages. I love watching the piggies who are in our largest c&c cage use the extra space. I think you probably do enjoy them even more the more space they have.
I wouldn't recommend a 2 tier cage - I never use ours set up as 2 tiers as it's too much of a pain to access the bottom level for getting piggies out or feeding them or spot cleaning.

My piggies aren't in their cages for 80% of the day. They are either in an indoor or outdoor run, or of course on my knee!

Time percentages aside, large cages are a must have in my eyes, no matter what sort of run time you give them, they'll still spend around 8 hours out of a 24 hours in their cage at a minimum. But at the end of the day it does come down to slight preference and personal opinion. Personally a 2x4 is the absolute minimum i'd ever let my pigs have and it's the advice i'd give anyone else. :tu:

What do I type into eBay to find these shelves?

I am getting baby Guinea Pigs, but I don't know if that will make a difference. They aren't going in my room anymore, but we are having a new room dedicated to pets. I will try and convince my dad to let me get a bigger cage, he just doesn't think they will need so much space. Does anyone know how I could convince him?

Show him this site.Large c& c is cheaper than commercial .I don't even have cortex.Good lu k

My 2 girls are in a 120cm cage but they spend most their time free ranging around my room. I've blocked access to any wires/tight spaces and have put down a few fleece blankets, hideys and toys. They only go in their cage for hay & water really. If you can make a space safe for them & they can hop in & out of their cage that could be an option. Even attaching a run to the cage with cable ties could work. P.s my 120cm was about £10 from ebay so keep an eye out for 2nd hand, the piggies don't mind x
