I've seen on http://www.guineapigcages.com/ that the recommended cage size for three piggies is 10.5 sq ft (minimum), 13 sq ft (preferred) - Is this the case if the group were boars? I've read that boars need more space to prevent arguements.

Thanks :)p

And, my brain hurts, can someone please advise;

Is a C&C cage 2x5 (14 panels) the same floor space as 3x4 (again 14 panels)? I'm thinking that the 3x4 is more?

Nah it's got to be the same? (don't just take my word for it). 2 x 5 is really long and they could run full out in a cage that long but 3 x 4 is a big more square shape. Either is good.

When you're comparing areas it's helpful to use the area measurement, rather than dimensions as everything becomes much clearer.

2ft x 5ft = 10ftsq
3ft x 4ft = 12ftsq

So you're correct, 3x4 will give a larger area.

Each grid measures 14"
2 grids x 5 grids = 28" x 70" (1960 sq in) which = 13.6sq ft
3 grids x 4 grids = 42" x 56" (2352 sq in) which = 16.3sq ft

Thank you :) Was confusing me so much! I used to be good at math as well @)

I was thinking about the length of it, but Mabelle tends to run in circles rather than up and down which is why I was thinking more square would be better. Hmmmm back to looking at pictures of other ppls cages! :(|)

OMG I didn't even think about it in terms of maths! Just goes to show you eh.

The squarer one sounds better then. It that what you're thinking?

Wonder how easy it is to make a lid for such a big cage, maybe a wooden frame, mesh (like in a run) and some catches and hinges?

If I go down the C&C route, I'm thinking perhaps two 3x4 cages. I've not even though about lids @) It's all so confusing!

Would 2mm correx be ok? I found a local place that does 4ftx8ft for £14.50 (3mm white) or another place that does the same in black (which I'd prefer) for £4.46 a sheet, with £10 delivery, so in bulk a lot cheaper but it is 2mm.
