So I currently have two young boars (10 months and approx 7 months old) living happily together. They are in a 5’ x 2’ standard cage (not c&c) at the minute and they get along well. There has been the odd incident of chasing/rumbling but nothing serious. However, as they’re getting bigger (they are both +1kg already) and I’ll soon be buying my own place I’m thinking of upgrading their cage to a bigger one to give them more space. I’m thinking of a c&c L-shaped cage which will give them a total of 16 sq feet of space on one level. I think that’s above the min requirements but with them being boys I’m wondering if, practically, it will be enough for them? Or are they past the point now where they might fall out?

Thanks for any advice :)

I don't think any group of pigs are ever 100% past the point where they won't fall out, you do hear of some long established pairs and groups (Sows and Boars) suddenly deciding that they are not friends anymore!

With regards space, the bigger the better, I don't think you can give them too much space!

Thank you. I know there won’t ever be guarantees that they won’t fall out. At the moment their personalities seem to be compatible, the only thing I have to watch is Mousse gets jealous when Butter is handled so I have to make sure I handle Mousse second so he can satisfy himself that mummy loves him more 🤣 I guess I’m just wanting to give them the best chance possible of staying friends and staying together ☺️

Love the names and yes, better make sure Mousse knows that Mummy loves him best!
