Hi guys

I'm new to keeping pigs (see my thread in the introduction section) and my first query relates to my cage - I think it might be too small. This is it below. It measures about 97 cm long by about 57cm wide (its a Ferplast one). I've got 2 boars so I'm thinking it's too small isn't it?

If so, what cage should I be aiming for and where's a good place to buy?

:agr:. The cage is to small. Is it one your friends got for you? I agree with lisaali that it'd be a good idea to make some sort of extension .

Yeah it's the one they bought. I don't really understand what C & C is? Are those the open top ones? I'm not sure that would be a good idea because of the dog. If I bought the next size up (is it the 120) would that be ok for them? Or bigger?

We have two boars now 7 months old. Up until last week they were in a 120 by 50 cage. As they got bigger we decided they needed more space to run around. We have just bought a Little Friends 160 x 80 cage and the boys are much happier and more active.

A 120 cage is absolutely fine if theyre given floor time/run time too. My boys were in a ferplast 120 to start with (cheapest place to buy this from is zooplus). My current boys are now in a 100 x 100 cm little friends cage which was an eBay bargain :)

Spike and Peanut have floor time everyday and run time on the grass weather permitting. The problem with floor time is despite doing it everyday for 4 months they still just sit under the cupboard and poop which doesn't give them any exercise! If they enjoyed floor time the 120 cage would have been OK. Certainly easier to clean for me.

Thanks everyone. Yeah they've got a run coming this week. Going to get them an u door playpen too. I'm guessing those big exercise balls like hamsters have are a no go? I get the impression there're more likely to frighten them than anything else.
