cage side height?

Hi all my partner has just built me a guinea pig home mainly from wood. I am just wondering if the sides are high enough though. They are 8 inches, so what do you think as I dont want any escapees as a) I have dogs and b) it is too high up. I will be having a rather large four month old (waiting for a buddy) in one and 2 male 7 week olds in the other I will try and get a pic on if I can.

ideally 12-14 inches is best, as although most piggies dont jump, if there is food they will stand on the sides and try to reach up and over. x

Thank you, I had a feeling it would be that. He had tried to get it done when I was out and so asked on the internet what size but he only went on a yahoo answers site rather than asking on here. I told him if he wants to know anything in future then this is the place x
