Hi everyone, back here after a while away. Our guinea pigs have settled in fine but I'm not happy with their cage. It's 120cm by 60cm but it's not the size that's bothering me, it's the size of the openings (not very big). So I have decided to go for a C & C cage. What I'd really like some advice on though is: is it preferable to have a rectangle cage over a square cage? I would go for a 4 x 2 cage but I'm a bit worried that it might be a tiny bit too long for the space I have so I then thought about a 3 x 3 cage. What are everyone's thoughts on this. Thanks, Gillian, Chris, Janet & Jessie

I think it is the overall space that counts, not shape. My boys last 2 cages have been square rather than rectangular. They zoom around in the square ones just fine.

A 3x2 is the bare minimum for a pair and is the size of your current cage in "grids" in terms of floor space even if that was all you managed it'd be fine. 3 grids long is long enough and a 3x3 is a very good sized cage so go for it IMHO :)

My duo is in a 3x3 but quartet in a5x3 .Shape doesn't matter, it's floor space. That's the beauty of c&c cages, you can adapt the shape.I have bent grids on mine to fit round furniture.
