I have two female piggies living in an 8 square ft cage, I will be building them an 8 square ft loft soon to give them some variety. After that is done, might that be enough space for a third girl? If not I'll be waiting until we get a bigger place to keep their cage to build more floor level space but I was just wondering if it might be possible?

8sq ft is already pushing it a bit for two piggies; I would wait until you upgrade the cage before considering a third.

Keep in mind adding a loft doesn’t really add floorspace to the cage (so you won’t have 16sq ft after the upgrade) as that’s not really more running space, so that shouldn’t necessarily be your justification in getting a third cavy.

This size guide can give you a good idea of what you’d be looking at (which, for three girls, would be 10-12sq ft).

Okay, thanks for the quick reply! I'll wait it out until I can expand the floor level. Just wasn't sure if adding a loft would make it big enough or not. Still pretty new to guinea pig keeping and am trying to learn as much as I can about this stuff :)
