Has anyone actually ever bought two indoor cages then chopped them about a bit to enable them to make one mahoosive one? rolleyes

Just wondering lol

I have only done it once before, but it was for my hamster! I clipped the actual metal part of the second cage on top of the original cage. It worked as the cage door was on the roof of both cages. I opened the bottom cage door and had a spiral tunnel so he could access it.

Lol that made no sense whatsoever - I just saw no-one else had got back to you so wanted to try my best!

I recently bought two sets of c&c grids which cost me £30 - and I had 30 grids. Making the cage was so easy and my boys are really really happy running around in it. its so nice to be able to see their whole home too, instead of just some of it.

I didnt have a clue about correx though. Just used an old rubber air bed with newspapers and towels. Have you ever thought about making a C&C cage? xx

In theory it would be possible with the ferplast types. if you lift up an end on each cage and then have them end to end and secure with cable ties. You might also want to put a bridge over the plastic they will jump over, for two reasons, one its not so easy or dignified for them, and also itll stop anything getting through the cracks and onto your floor.

I think I am going to have a play with my grids later, trouble is they clang on the floor when I am trying to connect them up lol :))

I have a semi-circular bay window which is going to make it awkward :{ a square shaped run isn't going to fit so I am going to try different shapes.

Yes I would like the name of the firm that does correx, I am sure there is no problem putting their name/link to the site on here :))

here is the name of the shop we got correx from and number:-
the one stop plastics shop, it is in leicestershire, phone no is:-01664496107 hth x

Thanks that's brilliant! Can I ask which one you got in the end? Is it the carport stuff? How thick is it? :))

no , not the carport one, just called correx, it is thin, but does the job, i got the green colour, ordered a HUGE sheet( i think 8ftx 4ft, so it was big enough to bend up for sides) cost , with p& p about £23.

If you cable tie your grids together instead of using the connectors you should be able to get the shape you want. ;)

Correx might not be so simple to shape beyond squares and retangles, but not impossible with a bit of time and patience. Otherwise you could try lino at a base.

Look up signmakers in your area, they'll do correx as they use these to make many signs.

looking forward to seeing the finished product!

we tried our local sign makers, and they were not interested in selling us the size we wanted, they wanted £60 for very big piece( cant remember how big tho)

That's a shame; I managed to get the size I needed from a local sign makers, though I can't remember the cost (it's over a year ago now!). They even gave me a couple of botched signs they had made (just wrong phone number/spelling on it) a piece of which I use to keep the piggies in the bathroom at floor time and the rest I may use to add an upper level at some stage.

you were lucky! still we got there in the end, thought we were never going to find it, at a price we wanted to pay.

Here's a sample of what you can do to fit in your bay window.

Omg Lissie that's my house :)) only kidding lol! Yes I want to make the most of every square inch, so joining the grids at an angle would be great! Can I ask the correx stuff, did you have to join up your pieces & was it hard to cut it too that odd shape? Thanks! :))

It's not my cage :) I found it in Guinea Pig Cages gallery. I've never cut coroplast in an angle before. I think it could be done. Might want to try with cardboard first.
