I have got the cage ready for my two lovely guinea pigs, Mistletoe and Jingle (from Piggies Palace Rescue). I am collecting them next Monday (21st January). Very exciting.

The room is in utter chaos atm because I have recently move a lot of my things in (just moved down from Wales to live with my Mother).

They will have a water bottle and probably some more hides.

That's an awesome set up, bet your gonna to be counting everyday off the calendar.
I'm so excited for you. You must post loads of photos.
Just noticed is that a bit of wire sticking out, or is it a trick of the eye?

It is a bit of wire sticking out where I have put the ramp up using cable ties as I could not find a way to make a decent ramp to join onto the shelf.

Is there anyway you could cut it with wire cutters. Trouble is when piggies are little they run into anything, it could cause a nasty wound, then you would never forgive yourself. Go find a neighbour or friend to sort it for you, apart from that like I said you're lay out is perfect.
I hope you don't think I'm criticising, you, I really don't mean for it to come out like that.

It is really thick metal so wire cutters wouldnt go through it. They would have to be standing up on their hind legs to reach it so I am hoping it will be ok.

Its not at all critical. Very good point. Will keep a careful eye and if I have to will borrow some kind of metal grinder to get it off (with them well out of the way of course). Or perhaps I will fix a bit of wood over the end.

Sorry I also meant to say that i am s happy you are finally getting your piggies.
You have been so patient waiting, and I know they will have a wonderful home with you.
Love the elephant fleece too.

I used to have that cage. I ditched the wire mezzanine level and replaced it with a homemade one. I just bought a piece of plywood cut to the right size and screwed 2 wooden batons down either side (which were wider than the wire bars of the cage). The batons then sat nicely on the cage bars to hold it at the right height. I used a saw to create a groove in each baton so that it hooked onto the bars for safety.

I then made a ramp to the top level from another piece of plywood covered with a U-shaped piece of correx to create sides on the ramp. I also made a correx box for the upper level so that they wouldn't fall off.

Your cage looks amazing, I'm sure your girls will love it :D can I just ask where you got the little blue blanket/mat underneath the hut? I think its called microfibre? I've been after a few for a while but cant find any that are small.

Swissgreys, thanks for the duct tape tip. I love the elephant fleece too. Yep. Its been a long long wait. I hope they will love their set up.

Mackers a home made level sounds great. Do you have any pictures as I am finding it hard to visualise what you mean?

Thanks Dorothy and Coca it really is so wonderfully exciting (none of my friends can quite understand this, so glad to have the forum to chat to you guys).

Laila, the microfibre mat is from ebay and is folded in half ... so not as small as it looks. You can sometimes find them in pound shops too. Glad you like the cage. Would love a huge c and c set up but with two dogs ...

Tiamolly. Will defo use some tape for now. No the level isnt accessable as I couldnt work out how to make a ramp up to it. Well couldnt work out how to fix the ramp to the level. Hopefully I will get round to making a new level sometime.

Oh yes that is great. Really clear. Thankyou so much. I almost wish I wasnt going away so that I could make it now!
