Cage Questions For A Newb

Hi, all! We are considering getting a guinea pig soon and have started doing some research on them. I like the c & c cages, but was wondering how you would go about putting a lid on them. We have a cat so a lid is a must for us. Is it possible to have a c & c cage with a top?

Right now we have a hamster in a 40 gallon breeder tank with a mesh lid. Are tanks unheard of for guinea pigs?

A tank would not be a good idea for guinea pigs as they have very bad ventilation. A C&C cage would work great though. This online store sells one's with tops if you are interested. Covered Guinea Pig Cages

Welcome to the Forum, and well done for doing your research in advance.
C&C cages are great and a lot of members use them with lids due to cats or small children in their home.
Depending on which country you live in there are also alternative 'ready made' cages that could work too.
For example the Midwest is a popular choice;


You will also get lots of idea looking in the threads in the 'housing' section of the forum, where people put photos of their set up.
